The Tennis Thread - from Jan 2020 (Part 2)

Alcaraz parted ways with his coach Carlos Ferrero interesting

Sabalenka vs Kyrgios tomorrow in the BATTLE OF THE SEXES.

I was gonna say it’d only really be interesting if they both played properly and professionally rather than it being an exhibition joke around but then I realised that every match Kyrgios plays he treats as an exhibition match.

I’ll be watching worth it for the slim chance of him losing and looking more like a ā– ā– ā– ā–  lols

Saw a clip of one point, the court looked awful on tv

It’s in the Middle East isn’t it?

Of course it’s ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–

What I took out of the match is that Nick looked unfit looked like he couldn’t be farked playing he’s done as a player

You then watch Sabalenka and she was having a fair dinkum crack.

…and also given singles tennis is increasingly a power sport rather than being about finesse and guile, there is a significant advantage to the larger men, with female players more competitive in mixed doubles.

There really doesn’t need to be any more men v women top ranked singles matches, as there’s nothing to prove and nothing to see that we didn’t already know.

hard courts is bad for the game

I think Sabalenka did a disservice to the women’s game. Its not like 50 years ago when Billie Jean King played when the women were struggling for tournaments, prizemoney, fan and corporate interest, so it could be considered a necessity. The women’s game is in rude health, so there was nothing to be gained.

As I will be in Adelaide next week think I’ll attend a day of the Memorial Tournament before the start of the TDU.

7 DF and loses quite easily 6-3,6-3 in straight sets what a shocker by him you hope it was just rust.

Not surprised that he lost it’s the way he lost that shocked me was expecting him to at least win a set and maybe pinch the win with the home crowd advantage but he was off right from the first point.

Demon,Joint,Kasatkina then daylight legit have no one coming up the ranks after those three.

Emerson Jones looks to have some potential but she’s small and will struggle against majority of the women on tour who serve and hit big

Anyone watching the United Cup or Brisbane International?

Emerson Jones into the second round at the Brisbane International what a performance from the 17 year old she a beat a top 50 player

Krygios indicates he’s not ready for 5 set tennis and is not seeking a WC to the Australian Open. Looks like will play doubles, though.

Kostyuk hey..
