So Stringer and Myers were carrying injury during the match. Ambrose gone early and Raz lost before the game. Ok.
Yes and seven of our best 22 already out injured.
He’s got 2 more years on his contract. Nothing short of 0-12 start to 2019 would see the club make a change.
So why couldn’t we beat a ragtag Collingblow?
Is our depth so ■■■■ we can’t beat a side has 10 of their best starting players out?
Eagles
North
Tigers
Swans
Tough month coming up
I reckon failing to win a final is sackable
I was done around ten years ago with Essendon. I forgot when it happened. Somewhere towards the end of Sheedy’s coaching.
I’m still a member. Still go to games. But it just isn’t the same.
I’m 40 years old now and I’ve seen the best of us in the first 25 years of my life. If we haven’t been challenging for premierships, there was confidence we were building towards our next one. You could see we were playing a style and brand of footy that was sustainable and premiership standard.
The last 15 years have been nothing more than a touch better than Richmond through the 90s. Some amazing and unforgettable wins but some truly terrible seasons and unnacceptable losses.
I don’t get excited by us at all. In fact, I look out for the let down after a good run of games. That’s what we are. That’s what we do. Repeatedly. For 15 years.
I used to have hope and trust that this time we’ll build the team differently. That next year we’ll get better. That once player X comes back or develops further, we’re going to be absolutely awesome. But now, I want to see results. No excuse. No waiting for next year.
I would like to see some ruthlessness within the player group. I don’t see it yet. It has to start in that ■■■■■■ pre-season comp though. We throw those games completely away. I don’t expect to treat it like round 1, but we have barely tried to use it to get at least 15 of our best 18 on the park so that we can get used to our gameplan.
I feel the last 6 or so games, we’ve used it to try and get comfortable with the gameplan and style. I hope we can only improve on it by round 1 next year. As others have said elsewhere, I expect big things next year. No excuses. We have a good 20 to 25 players that can trouble the best teams when they play as a unit. I think it needs another 5 or 6 players tacked on to the end of it (be it through natural development or free agent signings). Regardless of injuries, we should make finals. As long as we have a good 20 to 25 players to pick from, we should win the first week of finals. No excuses.
I agree with wob though. Baguley and Myers shouldn’t be anywhere near our best team. But they are. Colyer and Ambrose are good for ‘fringe’ type players who you rely on when injuries occur. Instead, they are best 18 players for us.
We need to improve our talent base.
I also agree with wob that Smith has shown us what AFL standard is. I can only think of 1 or 2 of our players who can play with his intensity, gamebreakinig play and general thirst for any contest. We need more players like him. And quickly.
Also…
Please delist Jerrett, Long, Looney and Hartley. They aren’t reliable depth and are just clogging the list. In Jerrett’s and Long’s case, they have chewed up resources that could have been spent on plenty of other players through the last few drafts. Looney and Hartley were needed last year, but they should be gone this year.
We need to get ruthless about the spots on the senior list and actively look at improving every area of the field every season. Midfield, ruck, forward and back. None of this, just give him one more year and he’ll explode bullshit. I don’t care if we have a ‘warrior’ who has worked manfully the last five years. Just hunt players who are better than the bottom 5 players in our best 18 every year and try to improve our best 25 to 30 players every year.
Bucks; Eddie can u call a favour to one of the um…
Eddie; Done!
Failing to implement proper game changes in 3rd and 4th round was enough to be sackable.
Dan Richardson is in charge now he was repsonsible for giving Neeld the flick reckon there will be more changes in the off season
Harvey and Bruce Reid should not be at the club
I’ve seen 4x premierships.
Six if I include 2005 + 2012.
I’m going alright over here.
Gone are the days when we controlled the midfield and the ball.
Seemed like a barrage at 1 point whereby 8 rotations using different players in the midfield from the centre clearances all producing goals the boards.
Smoking Joe, Rolls Royce Mercuri, Shorty Denham, Johnson Bros, Hird, Long, Moorcroft, Hardwick we were a running machine but in bursts from different players at a time.
Then when we did enforce the game teams ■■■■ their pants!
I know Sheedy was past his used by date but the club hasn’t recoverd since his sacking.
lol this thread delivers
Need Dustin Fletcher or Lloyd coach
Please no
Matthew Knights over Dimma Hardwick.
Was rumored the night before that Hardwick had the job was so happy only to be bitterly disapointed when sen annouced Matty Knights got the job
Will never forget that morning on the way to work
That was our 1st real insight into how poorly the club was being run. To so badly botch a legends departure just gutted what might have remained of the culture Sheedy brought with him.
So Woosh what would you have done out there in your day couple of goals up 5 min to go 3 qtr time?
Talked about it, mention the positives of it, go around the room for a consensus, discussed the options, have a show of hands, voice our concerns, seek a matter of opinion…
He has forgotten back in his day he would have taken the game by the balls!
At the start of the year ■■■■■■■ hell teach them how hard u ■■■■■■■ played and we are 3qtr there to the finals, do the fiddly ■■■ ■■■■ as above and look where we r now!
Now that’s he’s back at the club i wouldn’t mind if he gets a bit more involved like him turning up to traning and watching the boys on the track
I miss the old crazy coot.
