Is it better for AI to be in private hands or public hands?
All the talk is currently about anthropic - founded by former members of open AI (currently privately held, but may IPO).
It would be better if AI was set on fire and everyone involved in its creation and especially its marketing and monetisation spent the rest of their working lives cleaning public toilets with their tongues.
Second best option would be public ownership, because at least in that case there’d be some legitimate debate and transparency about how much money is being shovelled out the window in pursuit of this snake oil.

left 2 million followers on x to 2000 followers on blue sky.
A fair portion of those were bots.
And a number of those follows are people that have left X.
They haven’t left X entirely, they are just posting there less.
2000 is pretty good given they only just created a blue sky presence a day ago.
