Musk refused to fix the bad shyt in X the way the Brazilian government asked, so Brazil’s banning X.
Not did Musk refuse to make the required corrections to Twitter, they sent no representatives to the hearing which more or less forced the judge to make the harshest ruling possible.
Musk pretended that he didn’t even know the proceedings were occurring, before inexplicably commenting on a tweet which featured an AI-generated image of the judge in question.
A pointless own-goal on all fronts.

Some interesting stats on what’s been happening on Bluesky since twitter banned Brazil. It’s going gangbusters, the tech effort to keep it from falling over under the load has been frankly extraordinary. Apparently they don’t have enough Portuguese-speaking mods though, whichll be a problem for a while.
I have a bluesky account because all the sci fi authors worth a damn decamped from twitter a while back now and hang out on bluesky now, but even so, it’s a low-growth stagnant platform that largely consists of lefties agreeing with each other.
This may change now, if bluesky becomes the platform of choice for Brazil or any other nation that Musk chooses to ban). Of course that may not be an entirely good thing. A Blogging platform I was on many years ago became a haven for Russian bloggers, and it eventually got bought out by one of Putin’s mates so they could go through the site’s customer database to track down the real names of online dissidents. A future far right Brazilian govt may try something similar.

I have been using that tactic for years, and the only success was subverting the blond Young Liberal nymphettes. Any woman with a brain already was a “radical leftist”, and could see right through me.
