The Weather Thread (not allowed to talk about rain)

We had swarms of bees hanging around various parts of the house. Thought we needed somebody to come and relocate a queen or something. After a couple of days they went away, apparently it’s “swarming” season.

My wife is helping out a tenant who has a hive in the roof, the bees can be heard buzzing in the kitchen extraction fan.

I believe that the bees swarm to give the queen a rest and, after a day or two, will buzz off of their own accord. The worst thing to do is to disturb them or try to move them on.

I’ve had a few around my house over the years and I just stay clear until they’ve gone.

Having a hive in the roof would be a little more complicated.

Haha wow this is so weird. Today we had bees hanging around our house, some making it inside through the bathroom fan vent or the bedroom AC unit. We found out that the demolition being done two doors down had uncovered a bee nest under the house, then another one next door (next door and two doors down from us).

Good chat as long as nobody talks about rain in the bee thread

BoM saying this was “unusual”.

This is the most extreme weather event any of us have ever seen in our lifetimes and it’s still about 2 months from peaking. The ramifications are only just starting. The future climate scientists warned us about decades ago is here.

If it follows the trajectory on the next warmest year from here, then you’re gonna need a new graph.

Yeah, we’ll probably see another .6⁰C - .7⁰C rise before the peak. Hopefully no more than that! And yes, we’re gonna have to extend that y-axis.

Melbourne radar has been playing up the last week or two.
