The Weather Thread (not allowed to talk about rain)

Yep. Polar vortex receeding again.

Next weekend looking very warm to hot (both days) across most of south-east Australia.

The interior of the country is set to bake from about mid-week for the foreseeable future. This will result in much warmer conditions across southern areas in the following weeks as soon as we get a northerly airflow.

also known as… “Summer”

Makes for a nice change!

Looks like La Nina has peaked and is starting to abate. Be a slow decay, but it’s on the way out finally!

Fingers crossed, this November has been ■■■■.

Feeling like December.

29°C at midday and Melbourne looking to cross the 30°C mark for the first time since March 19th - 259 days ago.

To put it into perspective: March 19th was the same date as our Round 1 capitulation against Geelong.

A lot has happened in between…

A very cold outbreak across northern and Central Europe at the moment. It is winter and this is a cold part of the world at this time of year but the freezing spell is already a couple of days old and not expected to let up until next week. Pretty dangerous situation.

Late morning in London and temperature still on -2°C with lots of freezing fog. Plenty of snow around parts of the UK and obviously continental Europe right now.

Nuke Melbourne. We are done here.

But seriously. How good is summer at the moment.

This is the worst start to summer I can remember. The heater is back on today. I have hardly been able to wear any of my new summer outfits. We get teased with 2 warm days and then it is freezing again.

Just get farked already.

This is absolutely perfect weather. If it could stay like this all summer I’ll be happy :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

You’re a sicko! Hahaha.

I’m getting less tolerant of the heat every year. If I’m on holidays it’s fine but but if not I hate anything above 28 these days

Still in the midst of a near record breaking polar vortex amplification, so to all those saying they can’t remember weather like this, yep, cause it’s just about never happened to this extent before.

*for those that don’t know what the polar vortex is, it’s the circulation of low pressure systems around the antarctic, amplification (circulating further away from Antarctica) of the vortex usually happens in winter, the vortex is currently (and has been for some time) circulating further away from the pole than ever before/this time of year. Thus the horrid cold fronts bring snow weekly through Nov/Dec.
