The Weather Thread (not allowed to talk about rain)

Global warming causes extreme weather events - drought, storms & floods etc. You can do your own research on this, but it doesn’t mean our days will always be warmer.

Climate change definitely exists and is causing many of the issues you have listed.

Issues the planet has faced as the climate has continued to evolve for billions of years and will continue doing so. Whether humans are having a bigger impact than “normal” or not on this, I’ll leave that to the experts.

But can just imagine the media rhetoric if today was 35°C and sunny. It would be the end of the world. Today it will all get swept under the carpet.

I agree with what you’ve said - for me I simply can’t believe that we can pump ■■■■ into the atmosphere at ever increasing rates while demolishing vast areas of forests and other natural habitats without it causing a problem.

And concur with this.

I’m not usually one to complain about the weather, or really acknowledge it all, but Victoria at the moment can completely FRO.

Totally agreed.

But looking like a bit of ‘back to normal’ November weather from the weekend and for the foreseeable future. I can’t see it getting this cool again until at least the mid to latter stages of next autumn now.

CO2 is plant food, including forests of trees….just saying

In terms of Melbourne days, I’m not sure today could be any better at the moment.

An amazing change from early last week (Cup Day).

In six weeks I’ll be going to Lake Fyans for my ‘summer’ holiday.
It snowed at Mt William today. 40 minutes drive away.

Windy or what? I was out tinkering with the car and a tree across the road snapped in half and fell on a car. Thought I’d better move away from the tree above me and a pane of glass from on top of the skip next door to my house took flight and slammed in to my fence. Several pieces of building materials are in my driveway. Gonna stay inside for a while.

The past month can’t have been that bad, you sooks; I just got a monthly electricity bill of $4.52.

Bring on peak solar time of the year!

(OK, I may use a tad less power when I’m out of the country. Would have been negative if my hot water was on its own circuit so I could have turned it off…)

~8-12c below average yesterday across the state, about a foot of snow across the alps. That won’t be happening for your summer holiday thankfully, but looking like being a moist old summer.

What sort of water heater??

Looks like a bit of a pattern change on the cards in the longer range forecast for the first week of December (“calendar summer”).

Most of Australia in the longer range forecast for this week was covered in below average blues (as has turned out to be the case!) but looks like a return to more normal/settled conditions & temperatures for Victoria in that 30/11-7/12 period.

Melbourne’s December average maximum is a little over 24°C.
