Wrong thread, not allowed to talk about that here!
The ECMWF model pushing that heat out to Sunday coming now, this coming week doesn’t look too bad now. Warm but nothing extreme in the city. Very dry, though with still a risk of real heat the following week.
Very rarely get, at the perfect time of year too, such a run of settled conditions. Might get 3-4 days in a row, but rarely 9-10 plus.
I know the Apple weather app isn’t the ideal source (it has improved recently though, admittedly) but the rest are very similar and showing the same at the moment.
Great for the Australian Open. Not so much for those wanting some rain.
Saturday 39°.
Going to head to Dromana, always a few degrees cooler
looking very cloud free, might have to whip out the 2am camera shots
my daughter has just gone to Torquay to try and get some shots
Purple is the new “11”.
Fark… Tuesday’s forecast for outer east is now saying 45 degC.
That’s fkg hot!!!
Looks like it will be lovely in Torquay tomorrow. Think I’ll nick down to the pub.
Cool change has reached the southwest coast - currently 26 down from a high of 38.
Got to 46.3 at home today and looking at around the 40’s for next week with Tuesday and Wednesday looking to be mid 40’s.
Thankfully I’m on the NSW south coast for the next week and it’s been fantastic weather yesterday and today
I’m going down to Berry tomorrow for the rest of the week. The weather looks ideal (not too hot).
I was up at Kiama yesterday and couldn’t move up there but most of the tourists should be heading home tomorrow. I’m at Batemans Bay until the end of the week and today was meant to be the hot one and it want too bad. Mid to high 20’s for rest ot the week so very happy with that
Having lunch in Kiama tomorrow on the way there. Hopefully everyone has gone home by the time we get there. ![]()
Traffic was bumper to bumper up there yesterday and Berry would have been similar.
Plenty down here have started to head home
In December 2014, the BOM changed Melbourne (city) observations from the La Trobe Street site, which had taken temperature and rainfall observations since 1908, to the current site at Olympic Park. This is the site that virtually all major media take their observations from when reporting on Melbourne weather.
I still think this move has been a mistake as the sites are very different and makes the previous 108 years of data a little questionable when comparing with the current site.
That being said, the highest temperature recorded at the ‘new’ site (in 11 years of observations), is 43.5°C on December 20 2019.
Looking at the models and forecast, I expect this to be comfortably broken on Tuesday (27/1).
