I am so used to being an angry frustrated person that now that we win I dont know any other method of reaction. how dare we win, we need to lose to win in the future. *this is a satirical piece, go the dons
Is there really any difference between pick 1 and 2?

It’s not about being “butthurt” or whatever else people want to call it.
It was great for our younger supporters to see a win. Nice reward for our younger players too. It’s a nice feeling we’ll have for a few days.
But can’t fans also look ahead? Sometimes things in the present have future consequences.
We’ve all lived through the worst football season of our lives. Forget the 1970s, 1992, 1997, 2006, 2016 … whatever other year people want to drag out … this has been, comfortably, the worst. I reckon the least we deserve, as a club and supporter base, is first crack in the draft. 29 losses from 31 attempts = putrid. It’s Fitzroy levels bad.
”tHeRE’s NO dIfFEReNcE beTWEEn pIcK 1 & pIcK 2!”
Well, there actually is … and doesn’t just involve the pointy end of the draft either. A draft we won’t be crippled by the decisions of the awful Dodoro.
Of course, it’s just that there’s a time and a place.
5 minutes after claiming our first win in Melbourne in over a year isn’t really it.
Some people just want to enjoy being happy for a bit. There’s no prizes for being first to complain. It doesn’t change anything.
It’s not even guaranteed we miss pick 1 (3) yet.
Honestly. This is nowhere near as bad as 2015.
If we got pick after the 2016 season, what’s the worst that could’ve happened?
Of the last 20 years, 2 no.1 draft picks have won flags. It’s really not the end of the world.
Getting Dodo back would be the end of the world.
Why go back to fitzroy when the eagles and north have had runs just as bad in the last few years? We’re “terrible team in the 2020s” type bad, that’s it. Now, obviously north has two wooden spoons recently, although neither were in the years that their 2-34 stretch covered.
Also, what do you want? Stringer and Cadman kicked 0.10 between them and Greene went off injured. El Achkar laid more tackles in one game than he did in his previous 5 senior appearances combined. Nick Bryan was the leading clearance winner on the ground. Given the giants’ epic bed ■■■■, the only way we lose today is if a bunch of our first year players and second year players, who we’re hoping are the core of our future, played substantially worse games of football. Good or bad for morale or whatever, it is fact against the rules to tell the players to deliberately lose.
We put an inexperienced, young side out. They played out of their skins against a team that on form should have walked over them. We did the “don’t care about winning” things and won anyway. Maybe that’s disappointing strategically, but there’s nobody to get angry at.
Richmond have the Eagles at the G in a couple of weeks.
We won at last. Excellent. And I hope we win every match for the rest of the season. That would be character building. We should have more self-respect than to try and lose matches. Fukk priority picks. We don’t need them anyway.
But I’ll take them if offered. ![]()
And this is partly why we’ve lived the last 20 years in purgatory. Hawks got flags with priority picks, Collingwood got a flag with a priority pick. Brisbane are what they are now with number 1 picks and other AFL assistance.
We have always thought we are special and that has helped to keep us â– â– â– â– .
If there was a massive gap in talent between the player available at 1 or 2 I’d be concerned. Isn’t fairly even still?
It’s not even about the time.
It IS about the place.
Discuss it , argue it all you want in the draft / trade threads etc. A match review thread for our first win in months, built almost entirely on hard work and young kids , for a club that has been mired in shitness and despondency for quite some time , is NOT the place to start that sort of discussion and bickering.
would have missed out on McCluggage.
For the life of me I can’t think of the second player.
I know Rayner is one and outside the 20 years category Hodge
Tom Boyd.
I’d rather win this game than lose for morale.
Still plenty of footy to play this year against the top teams, we could easily get blown out and end up with a worse %
