Time Essendon FC got rid of its Pokies licences

Look, you can have a 2 year extension, but you’ve got to sell 10 boxes of Freddo Frogs and Caramello Koalas to your family and friends…

I don’t consider posters in the betting thread to have been ‘relegated’.
It’s deserving of a topic in its own right without being derailed by off topic posts.

Perfect for Jake Stringer…he’ll just buy them himself

No, it was a thread that was created recently not because the people who gambled proactively made it. Enough people kicked up a stink (including myself) that gambling discussion is not beneficial to anyone and needs to be sectioned off. The thread was then made. They were relegated, shipped off to the leper colony.

sorry bigallan, Alex was the one who stated that they’d been relegated

Australians are one of, if not the biggest gamblers in the world per capita. Of course there’d be people on this forum who’d be interested in discussing it within a specific thread

Bigallan knows that, they just like to respond to me passively by indirectly responding to my posts through others. It’s weird.

Just don’t let dodo pick the machines, he’d have completely missed the shift away from actual poker machines & we’d be trying to convert the old slots into digital screens.

I’m impressed with the arithmetic skills of those on that thread, as well as the mathematical skills of those who set the odds.

Yep it does and …

Whatever

I see the senility is accelerating

Whatever

I don’t necessarily disagree with us getting rid of pokies, but if pokies are a problem, they don’t cease to be a problem just because Essendon sells their licence. They cease to be our problem, but the problem still exists.

That’s true. It’s whether Essendon wants to continue to be a part of the problem.

That’s correct, but what’s your point?

Why is it a problem?

The people who go there are the problem.

Victim blaming.

But you can’t separate the two.

I lost $20 in a pokie machine once. I don’t even understand how I lost it, but it was gone in a matter of minutes. I then made a choice to not put another $20 in the machine and instead went to goldfingers and put it and about another $100 in a very friendly lady’s under garment.

Forget pokies Essendon, your investing in the wrong business if you want my money!

For many people it’s not as simple an equation as that. Gambling is addictive and purposefully designed to be so.

Just curious, do you give the same level of empathy to all forms of addiction?
