One mans misfortune is another mans fortune.
P Ryder to go it alone and smash it as history has shown.
Will just need to tweak our forward line set up.
End of the day we will still have 22 on the park. The 10 odd cm’s lost in height can be made up in other ways - delivery, speed, strength.
NOT all panic stations yet with the loss of one player for 5-12 weeks early in the season.
Chilllax!!
hell be right
we'll be fine. ryder rucked for a year by himself after hille did a knee on anzac day. im sure he can manage for 4 weeks. belly will be back for anzac day.
chapman carlisle zaharakis
winderlich JOE kommer
lid still off
And I am sure the Windy Hill Brains trust would have had some contingency plans when they let Gumby go and knew they couldn't keep Hille any longer. This is not an event that couldn't be planned for.
I'd rather see Carlisle pinch hitting in the ruck over JD. Or they can share it.
Either way, I think our forward structure will be better for only having one ruck. It's just... Well, Ryder has to stay on the Park.
Agree that our forward line will better balanced with just the one ruck.
Joe will give him a chop out. I'm not sure why people think he'll break in half if he has to play as the relief ruck. He rucked every game he played last year, and he would be better prepared physically to take on more.
JD rucking 20 or 30% relieves the pressure on him in the forward line. JD can find the ball around the ground, has very good hands and has EXCELLENT vision. Time spent around the ground can only help him up forward. Think steinberg may be the one promoted - Need that extra mobile, marking forward.

And if paddy cops a two or three week injury? Do we play JD full time ruck while Thurlow runs around in the reserves?
Thurlow HAS to be upgraded. This was the whole reason we recruited him.
upgrade DELL for lols
Ryder has carry-over points and a bad record.
He just has to breathe wrong and we're down to zero rucks.

Sometimes ■■■■ happens.
Cat's had 5 rucks on their list and come round 1 in 2013, had to upgrade Blicavs,, because the other 4 rucks were injured.
have not been in blitz for a while but great to see nothing has changed!!
Thurlow from the little i have seen of him the 3-4 times i have been at training has impressed me.....just my 2c worth
Main problem is we have to make the call pretty soon, when we have no idea if we need to. If we upgrade Thurlow less than 8 weeks before Bellchambers is ready to come back, it‘s a waste.
Go down two posts. I knew that.

Right... But you can't just upgrade somebody because you need them, you can only do it with somebody on the LTI list or at the halfway mark of the year.
So with only 1 fit ruckman on our main list, and one on the LTI list, why on earth would we not upgrade the rookie ruckman we just drafted? You know, considering we drafted him for this very situation.

Why do we have to make the call pretty soon? We can place TBell on the long term injury list now but we don't have to promote anyone until whenever we want /need.

Exactly
We can make the call before Round 1.
Ryder has averaged 20 games/year since his second season. We are unlikely to need Thurlow.

Going by your opinions on ruckman, we don't even need Ryder do we? :)
You know I said we should have traded Belly for a young gun mid or top 5 pick and picked up a mature ruckman. We'd be looking alright if we did that, wouldn't we? ;)Going by your opinions on ruckman, we don't even need Ryder do we? :)Ryder has averaged 20 games/year since his second season. Is it also possible to switch the promoted player from week to week as well? I'm pretty sure this was brought in last season, but I'm sure Dunlop could confirm. eg. let's assume Ryder and Daniher are fit for round 1. They promote Steinberg or Dell and play them in round 1. Then Ryder gets suspended for biffing Harvey and for round 2 we can demote Stein/Dell and bring Thurlow in.
Wow W.D.
I don’t even…
This is not good at all. If Ryder goes down, we are in big trouble.
Daniher and Thurlow can now hold up our ruck division.
ohhh just great. when Ryder has a brain fade and gets suspended who's gonna ruck? We're screwed!!!!
