Top 5 tackles

So here are my top 5 tackles:

  1. Ambrose on hill (2015)
  2. Tippa on Will-Hoskin Elliot (ANZAC day)
  3. Merret on Dangerfield (country round 2018)
  4. Josh Green on Sam Mitchell (v WCE 2017)
  5. Vigo on Warner (2026)

Honorable mention: Tippa on Dusty.

I can’t seem to remember many tackles from 80s and 90s, but there must have been some brutal ones.

Fletcher run down of Jeff Garlett.
Tippa on Joel Selwood.

Alwyn Davey in 2007 early on laid some absolute gems, too. He was brilliant to watch live in those early games. Defenders would panic if he was within 15m of them because his closing speed was insane.

Redman on Ginnivan worthy of a mention

Not a tackle, but the sandwich at 1:40 is brutal. Hardwick and Johnson absolutely crunching Steven Sziller in the '01 QF. You just don’t see this kind of stuff anymore and the game is poorer for it.

Today a player getting hit like that would cry to his Mum, and just lie on the ground.

Brutal hit. It set the tone for the rest of that game.

Fair play to Sziller, knew it was coming, took the ball anyway, didn’t play for a free, took the hit, and got up without remonstrating.

Sometimes I miss the days gone by. But then nostalgia ain’t what it used to be either.

Walla on Hoskin-Elliott was so good mainly because you could see it coming. When he screws up his last bounce you know he’s done and the anticipation of the crowd, then BANG!!!

Josh Green’s tackle on Sam Mitchell 2017 would be up there for me.

Best non Essendon tackle I remember was this one.

Absolutely defied logic that he was able to stop a guy of Rooke’s size in his tracks when he only just got an outstretched hand around him when going in opposite directions.

Let down a little by the video quality (and the team of course)

“It’s a very rank tackle”…

Farking LOL ■■■■, he Farking slaughtered him, left the little blue ■■■■ of butter cleft in Farking twain.

Commentators who have no connection to our club have always envied and hated us.

I believe this is the game where we were observed by some snowflakes to be “monsters” compared to fark Carlton, who were left “privately seething” or whatever it is that inadequate little flowers do.

What a pack of snivelling little two faced wankers the entire AFL industry is.

The Titanic music gives it away.
