Top Ten Favourite Live Albums

In my humble opinion, we can always do with another music thread as long as it generates a bit of quality Blitz discussion (maybe that last bit is a bit over the top) and so I give you the "Top Ten Favourite Live Albums" thread.

It’s pretty simple…just name your top ten favourite live albums.

Here’s mine (in no particular order):

One More From The Road - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Alive II - KISS
Showtime, Storytime - Nightwish
Let Us Burn - Within Temptation
Strangers In The Night - UFO
Live And Dangerous - Thin Lizzy
Rust Live - Neil Young
Blazing Away - Marianne Faithfull
Bullet In A Bible - Green Day
On Stage - Rainbow

Looking at that list, it’s pretty obvious that I’ve nailed it.

What’s your list look like???

I have Showtime Storytime on Blu Ray.
Its ■■■■■■■ awesome!!

Also heard some songs from Vehicle Of Spirit.
Going to get that soon too.

No love for The Last Waltz?

I’m not a fan of The Band generally either. But as effectively a live “greatest hits” album, and packed with sensational performances from pretty outstanding guests, I reckon The Last Waltz is great.

l love The Band, who basically invented the Roots Rock movement. l still listen to them often. High quality song writing, tastefully played. They are unique. The Last Waltz is a great album.

Just watched Vehicle of Spirit...two different concerts...one from Wembley Arena and the other from Tampere in Finland.

I don’t think either were as good as Showtime, Storytime but the Tampere show was pretty good.

Live in Paris.supertramp.

Running on Empty - Jackson Browne would have to be one of my favourite all time albums.

A couple more for your consideration:

The Ramones - It’s Alive

That took me back to Bombay Rock. About 5 ft from the front of stage and Joey Ramone just doing that stance and them blasting out around 20 songs without missing a beat. Probably about 3 chord changes in the whole 45 min set. Just fantastic.

Nirvana - Live at Reading (comes with same on DVD) full concert full experience.

The Doors - In Concert (double album) well edited and a great listen.

Radio Birdman - Live at paddington town hall, dec 12 1977

Woodstock - some good some blah

Deep Purple - Made in Japan

Hendrix ?

Hendrix - Band of Gypsies. l would have this in my top 10 live albums, just not sure where it would sit, probably in my top 5.
