Has he shaved the front of his head?

Track and field in Australia are going through an incredible time. Not only Gout Gout, Jess Hull, Lachie Kennedy, Cam Myers and others, but the times and distances from Little athletics up to the Juniors are just so special.

By the time the Brisbane Olympics happen it could be very exciting.

Whilst it’s obviously not as simple as this, because it’s another matter to run freely and without tightening up in the intensity of the Olympic spotlight, this gives a pretty good depiction of how good Gout is going in the 200m already at just 18.

It’s going to be fun to be able to enjoy the ride of having an Aussie to cheer for in Olympic sprinting finals.

what impressed me was the kid who came second. Without him Gout probably doesn’t run as fast.

Aidan Murphy mum was a commonwealth medallist.

Aidan’s mother, is two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Tania Van Heer, who starred at the Kuala Lumpur 1998 Commonwealth Games, winning bronze in the women’s 100m sprint, before winning gold as part of Australia’s women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams.

Gout’s time of 19.67 would have won him bronze in Paris 24 and a medal in every Olympic Games

Well this is an awkward way to find out I’m blocked by Lawry

I mean that 19.67 time is incredible, but when comparing to past Olympics, you have to take into account that +1.8 is almost perfect conditions

I feel we have a golden generation of athletes both on the track and on the field, so fingers crossed they continue to improve. Total Running Productions is really hyping up Gout Gout in their videos.

TRP is a bit garbage through. Just hypes stuff to stupid levels with massive click bait headlines etc etc. if you were following them you’d still be waiting for Matthew Boling to break the WR.

That said, it’s an absolute golden age. Hopefully AA admin can stay out of the way, and petty rivalries between groups don’t ruin it

Its interesting the amount of Hype that Gout Gout gets, because he could become one of the best in the world. Especially by Bruce.

And to the same degree they down play his opposition who are also running personal bests. Kennedy, living in Gout Gouts shadow in the media, even though he is running well.

When you have Jess Hull is currently making finals from 800m - 3000m and winning medals at 1500m and holds 2000m world record.
And Ky Robinson - ranked top 4 currently. Has the second fastest time for 10000m this year so far.
26:57 Current Aus record holder. Gets little recognition.

Its almost like its better to have promise than be the real deal.

Really liking what Cam Myers is doing in the 1500m, but also backing up at 5000m.
The only australian to break 3.30 twice now, and the last time it was solo in a time trial.
Imagine if he was challenged could run 3.27 or 3.28

Hull and Robinson are clearly the top performers on the world stage. hull gets heaps of coverage, but wasn’t at the Maurie Plant (it really needs a different name) reportedly due to some sort of issue with AA, so that limited the hype train, and then the mess of the W1500 at the nationals feels a bit negative for all involved.

Robinson’s best work has been overseas and in distance races that the public isn’t really aware of (and perceives to be dominated by East Africans), so it will be hard to make inroads in the public consciousness.

Conversely the sprints are easy to hype, easy to understand, and to watch, and the public can absolutely get on board with hype that is backed up with times. And Gout in full flight looks incredible. I think the public is starting to understand that Kennedy is legit as well now. And Myers efforts over the last few weeks are gaining him some mind share with the general public (even if the win at the Wanamaker mile against stronger opposition was pretty unnoticed)

Myers is a gem. There is a definite chance that in the future he can medal in the worlds or the olympics

I wouldn’t really call that comment disparaging.
Everyone’s here for the journey.

The Septics were questioning the legitimacy of the times given 7 out of 8 ran PBs. I would call that disparaging.
