Sounds an awful lot like the Trade Whisperer.

Even during the day as well, there I got in first.stupid auto correcct

We need Bowman(Development) and one other experienced older ruckman on the list for mine.

The second one is not Zac.

Completely forgot about him. If our rucks were:

Draper
Bellcho
Phillips
Bowman

I would be happy with that. plenty to work with there.

Hartley has excellent skills by hand and foot compared to most talls in the comp. Look at how many ruckman don’t have a “kicking licence”. Around the ground he’d be a far better option than most vfl ruckmen. In the vfl he’s known as one of the best kicks in the team.

He didn’t perform well in the ruck when played this year. Considering he’s had no training in that role since he was on Collingwood’s list, it’s unfair to completely write him off at this stage. I reckon he’d be a better backup than Clarke with a few months ruck refresher.

Lots of lifestyle to enjoy by dark.

The last 2 years, I’ve been of the belief we should be utilising him as a swingman.

I’m not overly sure he’ll be anything better than very handy relief Ruckman.

As you say, his marking and kicking ability is very very good for his size. I’d like to see him train as a Forward this preseason, Work really hard on repeat sprinting endurance, and learn about leading patterns.

I don’t think he’s a potential replacement for Daniher, but he could be a pretty handy player who we can move around the ground. He’s the type of player that you wish could get more of the ball, because he uses it so well. A bit like Ryder when he was a defender.

(If it happens) I really hope we can get the Daniher deal sorted with sufficient time to look at what we can do with 5, 9, 31, 33 do we try and split 5 or 9? Do we package picks 5 and 33 (or something like that) for 3?

Do we use them to chase Martin and King?

As much as if it happens I think banking the talent and dealing next year is the go, dealing with that kind of hand would be worth taking a look at.

The media have forgotten its their job to report the news, not to create it.

They’ve essentially created a cottage industry (trade) within the broader Footy media industry and they’ll do whatever is necessary to feed it.

Yeah maybe. I’m not writing him off, I just don’t see his ball-getting, contested marking or bullocking ability. He distributes well. Good kick and punch, good floating mark, runs in straight lines well… just doesn’t strike me as being too good when the ball is in dispute… particularly below his shoulders or when it’s at ground level.

I know rucks aren’t traditionally supposed to be good at the groundball, but Nank, Witts and Grundy still find a way to lay a bump and bullock for their team mates when the ruck contest is halved, if not get the hands on it themselves. Would love to have a Nank in the team who struggles to win a tap but, more than makes up for it with his bodywork around the ground. Hartley won’t win many taps so he needs to be a strong body if he’s going to ruck.

Maybe he could put on a few kilos and do that role… dunno

That would be hilarious if the Saints crazy Vossy approach implodes.

If joe goes the sado masochistic side of me would love to see a representative side that burnt us this decade. I think I would have if raz went.

It would beat FC

Would love if that happens

It’s the same thing that happened to saints with the Carslile trade. Hawks came in late and forced their hand.

Agree. Hartley is 199cm and is 100 kg so is a fair lump of a man and he’s only 26. Best years ahead of him as a big guy. He also has an excellent leap, moves well, kicks accurately like a mule and I think he has been under utilised by the club so far. He hasn’t disgraced himself when playing senior football and rarely gets injured. Harts is very handy back up for the increasingly fragile Hurley. I’d be very disappointed if his contract wasn’t extended, particularly when there are plenty that should be snipped before him. Give him a big preseason as a backup ruckman, so Zac Clarke can be reunited with his family back in WA.

If true, not at all surprised. Geelong are sitting there with a swag of good picks , watching St Kilda ■■■■ about whilst their main target wonders why they dropped down the draft order.

This has ramifications for Carlton / Papley/ Martin etc too, because splitting #9 becomes trickier without Geelong having two selections in the mid teens.
