Trade Talk 2019 Pt2

I wonder about Hartley, Maybe he is not aggressive enough to be a ruckman, as if he wants to play firsts then he has a big opportunity in the ruck. Reckon it is not in his head to be an AFL player; he needs a hypnotist.

He was awful against Adel this year.

It’s very different because Saints have already dropped their pick. They’re not much better placed than Geelong now with their first pick.

I have always liked Hartley’s kicking & spoiling, but in the 2nd match v pies when Hoskin-Elliott shifted him under the ball and out marked him, I thought it highlighted his terrible body-on-body defensive work.

I have a friend whose nephew was a fringe All Black. About 18 months ago he became a father and he has lost the drive to get back to top level rugby. His family is all important to him. I don’t know if that is Hartley’s story as well but I see some similarities.

Against Adelaide Hartley had 16 possessions and 7 marks. Not sure if he was playing on Jenkins who had less possessions but kicked 4 goals. The classy Adelaide midfield delivered the ball beautifully in bursts to their forwards - thankfully not too often and we won by 21 pts. There were many regular senior players who played worse than Hartley on the day such as Stringer and Langford. I personally thought he came into the team and played his role. Jenkins showed during that game what an asset he could be as a monstrous forward option. But thats another discussion entirely!

Watched that game live. The ball came in a lot and wasn’t well directed by the Crows, so high possie count in d50 not unexpected. ‘Awful’ overall may be a touch harsh but he wasn’t great when he chopped out in the ruck.

I note that we preferred Hurley with a busted shoulder and Hooker with a crocked back to Hartley in that first final. I’d love him to come good, sincerely… just don’t see enough to think he’ll be a good ruckman

Trade Daniher, Hurley, Hooker and Heppell to the Suns for picks 1, 2 and Ben King

Didn’t Hartley showed a bit as a forward in the last few VFL games? Wonder if a pre-season honing his craft might leave him as an option post JD. He is certainly big enough.

Completely agree, is not aggressive enough. Great kick, great size but gets out bustled by forwards and doesn’t know how to impose himself.

Just not good enough for mine.

Hep? No coffee for you!

Mainly kicked when matched to Hooker

If we are going to get him I cannot see it costing much.

Now we’re talkin

Future 3rd maybe?

Legit or just another dodgy page?

Offer next years 2nd for him & A. Smith

Hart was on Walker.

No idea. Seemed interesting and believable, written in very adamant terms. Shall see what happens.
