We have no idea how good/bad Draper is going to be. It’s just hype at the moment, considering he hasn’t even played a senior game yet.
Bellchambers is slow and cooked. He really shouldn’t be our first ruckman going into next season.
Would it not make more sense to go after someone like Preuss or Pittonet?
They are both 4-5 years younger than Phillips, and much better players. You would be getting a ruckman entering their prime, which creates competition for Draper.
Also, Draper might not even be ready to play senior football until the second half of next season because of his ACL injury.
I’m very concerned going into next season with Draper, Bellchambers & Phillips as our ruck stocks. There is a lot that could go wrong there.
Yep, it doesn’t read significantly better than Bellchambers, Draper and Zlarke for mine…

Id delist Clarke as soon as Phillips sign and Rookie a young ruck.

Ollie Wines’ manager firmly denies asking Carlton about a trade out of Port Adelaide

Ollie Wines’ manager Nick Gieschen has vehemently denied he approached Carlton asking them to consider trading for the Port Adelaide midfielder.
Speaking to foxfooty.com.au , Gieschen refuted a report in the herald sun
“I can categorically say I never approached Carlton asking their football club to make an approach for Ollie Wines,” he said.
“These reports are completely untrue, Ollie is very happy at Port Adelaide, where he is captain and contracted for another three seasons.
“He certainly did not ask me to investigate the possibility of a trade and nor did I scope one out on his behalf.”
In a statement earlier on Monday, the Power said Wines had not requested a trade out of the club, nor had the club considered it.
“Port Adelaide is aware of recent media speculation relating to Ollie Wines’ future at the club,” it read.
“As a principle, the club is generally reluctant to respond to rumours involving its players throughout the AFL trade period.
“However, in this instance, given Ollie is the current co-captain of the club, Port Adelaide believes it is important to confirm that at no stage has Ollie requested a trade from our club.
“Equally, at no stage has Port Adelaide contemplated trading Ollie to any other club and he remains a required player.”
Yes we do have other needs, but the maths favour a waiting game.
If Joe goes for 5 & 9 this year we get no KPF. Definitely.
If Joe goes next year, as a restricted free agent, we have a pair of first round picks, conservatively between 9 & 14/15. That might be enough to get you a potential gun KPF, especially with academy mids & fairy dust points in a heavily compromised draft.
If Joe stays for good, then we’ve still got a first round pick next year. Even a single pick between 9 & 14 is good for a KPD, or trading for one ( or trading for that elusive inside mid)
Yes, like Dodoro I’m focused on KPF’s. Very good KPD’s, wingers and small forwards are gettable from a much more varied range of picks & trades.
Eg, just as KPD’s, Hooker, McGovern, Taylor were all late draft or rookie picks
Whereas Daniher, Franklin, Cameron (& Patton), Hogan, Hipwood, McKay, King, Lynch, Riewoldt, Kennedy, Darling & Naughton were all first round picks.
Sideshow Bob is about the only KPF I’d take who wasn’t taken early. (Hawkins doesn’t count under the rorted f/s rules at the time)

I hear you, but Zac Clarke remaining is a far far far worse scenario than anything else that could go wrong.
I would have gone after Preuss last year. Melbourne won’t let him go cheap.
