Trade talk - from August 2024

We need to upgrade the list until the future shows enough. Currently we have no small forwards making a case. Put Owies on a 2 year deal and get another small forward (apart from Kako) later in the draft to add some more depth. Within a couple of years we should have a couple of young alternatives to Owies

As much as I hate his lid owies is 100% an upgrade of what we have going on now in the small forward department

BTW I’m not saying Owies takes Kako’s spot in the team. It would be Owies and Kako in the pockets.

Everyone is an upgrade on our list, we don’t need to upgrade our ■■■■ players to slightly less ■■■■ players, that leads to mid table wilderness.

Menzie being ■■■■ and allowing us to finish bottom 4 is more helpful than Owies helping us finish 7th and losing an elim final.

In my opinion of course.

Owies is alright. Certainly an upgrade on Menzie as well as (unfortunately) the Daveys. I think a stop-gap would be handy to protect Kako while he learns his craft for a few years. I daresay he’s a better prospect than whichever State-league small forward is left after pick 50+ when we will be selecting again.

brad would play owies ahead of kakko for two seasons until kakko is burned out in the VFL and requests a trade to go elsewhere.

Great trainer Owies

This rationale is ridiculous. We have no other good options right now. So why not take someone relatively cheap while we can focus on developing/targeting future small forwards.

Also good teams aren’t always full of top line talent across the whole ground. You need role players that uphold the team structure/basics.

Yeah, that’s some serious kicking skills across that line. But GET EXCITED Bomber fans, Jake Kelly has re-signed for another 2 years!

“I’m really looking forward to the next 2 years alongside Ben McKay and Jayden Laverde in the back line…”

Our whole team is full of role players, we should add guns and kids, we don’t want to add guns because it costs us picks we want to use on kids.

4-6 win season playing 2 of Davey, Davey, Menzie, Kako is better than a 10-12 win season playing Guelfi and Owies imo.

Trading first round draft picks for known commodities should be on the table at Essendon, cos if you look at recent national draft history, we don’t know what we are doing. Hopefully Caddy bucks that trend, but Tastes, Hobbs, Reid, Cox, Perkins … I’d get rid of anyone of them for a gun (I’d get rid of two for Josh Dunkley for what its worth)

What do we. have this year? pick 8ish … put it on the table and get creative

The solution to this is drafting properly, which now that we don’t have Dodoro, we may actually have a chance at doing.

Owies in = Menzie out which is what everyone wants

Davey, Davey, Menzie are ■■■■…they are not our future. Maybe someone like Owies offers us enough for a few of years to have a shake at top 4.

True, Owies can save us

Yes, our list is trash but Owies can lead us to top 4

We certainly shouldn’t, you pay a high premium to the draft value for established players for the reduced risk, we need volume talent across the field, and a such should be taking the slightly higher risk value and bringing in bulk players to fix a range of holes and accepting a percentage wont work out.
