Trade talk - from August 2024

You all need to start loving our current players, because there is no way a senior player house cleaning is happening.

But they’re all ■■■■ aren’t they so who would want them in trade?

I also thought we needed to keep our picks to pick skilled and motivated players in the draft?

I could keep going

It might not take much to tank our ladder position.

If we traded out Stringer, and that’s all…our forward line might be so bad that it lets down the whole team.

So we spend 2025 pumping the ball inside 50, with futility because it bounces back out…we narrowly lose 4 more games…and we have a top 4 pick.

The point is that it gets them out of the club.

It’s way more complicated than that, Nino.

Suppose we traded McGrath and Wright each for a range second rounder. That gives us currency that can either be used to move up in the draft order or package together with a player for a higher pick.

For packets of chips how does that help a rebuild

We did this
2016 Mcgrath, Ridley, Begley, Mutch, Draper was rookie drated
2017 Houlahan, Zerk thatcher, Mynott
2018 Mozzie, Gown, Ham
2019 Jones, Bryan, Cahill, Johnson
2020 Reid, Cox, Perkins, Eyre, Brand
2021 Hobbs, Lord, McDonut
2022 Munk, Tsatas, Hayes, ADavey, JDavey
2023 Caddy, Luat, Roberts.
You know all this and you say another 4-5 years. Our mismanagement whether injuries or recuiting process of ■■■■ players has the team where it is now. The draft hasn’t worked for us. No point to keep on doing the same thing over and over expecting to get a different result

So we trade two players to try and get one top 10 pick

It gets them out of the club.

How do we reaplce thos players then

It will work if you bring in the right people to identify talent.

It’s a ■■■■■■ way of thinking.
Lets trade 2 players with some sort of skills for a player who could be a tsatas.
FMD.

Rumour file contribution this morning predicts Heppell retires by Friday. Just saying.

Because we had the wrong people doing the drafting and recruiting. Fix that and then do it properly

let go of Kelly and can keep Wanganeen.
let go of Hunter and get a key forward like Armstrong in the draft.

Trade Hobbs and request their future first (could be used for future Reid deal).

  • enquire on Reid
Trade Stringer to Demons for their second rounder.
Trade shiel to saints for their third rounder

From there
In: Perryman (FA), Armstrong, Kako, Bid on Champion with late pick,

It’s an option.
