Trade talk - from August 2024

like Hunter but durable.

Think of it as getting a player after they have done their development else where in a afl system.

would be better option than Weideman or Goldy as depth, given still chance for improvement and more driven.

It’s just all baseless assertions. The only team close to Essendon’s situation I think you could argue didn’t bottom out (recently) is port. What they did was trade out a 25 year old 2xAA B&F winner. Ignoring the fact we literally don’t have anyone of that age/quality combination, if we did, I’m pretty sure none of the ā€œwe can’t bottom outā€ people would be advocating trading them out. They also traded out Polec and Pittard for pick 11 which is both ridiculous and, if we’re being honest, players of a quality that would also be on the non rebuilds ā€œnot himā€ list.

Can draft a key forward, and wait several years to see if they’ll make it whilst they add to their frame and mature their bodies, or nab one a few years into the system and hope it was their circumstances (stuck behind genuine jets) that was the reason they didn’t get afl time at their prior club, and go draft in another position of need.

No idea which is the best way to go.

If there’s a Caddy like ready to go forward, do that

Lav for pick 62 or a future third is best we will likely get.
Saints 43 is a better prospect

mind you after bid matching 62 might actually come into 50’s

would be good if we could trade 28 out to suns as well for more points for Kako bid.

They probably wont be using picks anyway.

Or Tigers might be better as then they get pick 28+29 together

We should be trying to bundle rubbish like Laverde and co with 28 to move up the draft board before Kako’s bid.
If we could turn our second pick into a mid first round, we would leave the draft with 3 first round picks which would be a huge success…

There would be a few teams trying to do this.
Historically we haven’t had success being the team to actually do this.

Here’s hoping

Just ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  take him…I’ll pay them

True. I’d actually pay Laverde’s salary for him to go to FC.
I’m not saying this as if i’m sitting in Mat Rosa’s chair next year, i’m saying i’ll remortgage my house to pay for it…

We need to play hard ball on this. Lav is too important to us.

Owies would be a great get, really need to gain depth in that forward line.
