Yes. He’s hit a trigger and he’s under conttract on low money next year, unless we agree to trade him. Some people on here (not you) don’t seem to understand the situation, and are running with another narrative. The trigger works in our favour in this situation. Stringer on 400K is great value. If he wants more elsewhere, a club can make an offer to us.
I know many hawthorn supporters that felt this way last season. Now look at them. Fwiw i dont think we will all of a sudden have a ripper enxt season like they have, but im just saying things can just change quickly
I like him but we’re jumping the gun with him a little, he’s a bit behind some of these other teenage stars who go top 5. But he is a forward, they take longer. Good signs for sure.

Boom Peel Thunder signing Wade Derksen is hopeful of getting an exemption for next month’s AFL Mid-Season Draft after a ruling prevented him from getting a train-on stint at Fremantle during the pre-season.
The athletic 197cm forward-ruck has enjoyed a bright start to his WAFL career, with six goals in two games including four in the 55-point win over West Coast at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday.
The 20-year-old from Darwin made the move to WA during the off-season with partner Dieka McGregor and two-year-old son Kaelan to chase his “dream job” in the AFL.
He’s put his electrical apprenticeship on hold to focus on footy, working at a local plumbing store alongside fellow recruit and ruck partner Riley Smith, but provided the spark for the Thunder’s second win of the year.
“It would be my dream job,” Derksen told The West Australian.
“The whole reason I’ve made these massive sacrifices is to one day end up on an AFL list.
“Obviously playing with Peel now, we want to put our best foot forward and go all the way, but the end goal for me is to be on an AFL list.
“I’ve just put the electrical apprenticeship on hold while I really have a crack at footy, I’ve been investing myself and putting a lot of time into footy.”
Derksen explained injuries were the reason why he didn’t nominate for last year’s draft, ruling him out of a Pre-Season Supplementary Selection Period (SSP) train-on stint at the Dockers.
But Fremantle have kept one spot open ahead of the Mid-Season Draft on June 1.
He did get to spend some time there alongside several Peel teammates and is part of their 20-player COVID contingency list.
“I think I only played about four games in two years for Essendon VFL,” Derksen recalled.
I did the patella tendon in my knee, ligaments in my ankle three times, I hurt my shoulder all in my second year after COVID in the first with no footy played at all.
“Because I had a real harsh run with injuries, I didn’t nominate for the draft, so I’ve got to try and apply for an exemption.
“I’m focusing on Peel but if one club has a bit of interest, that would be a dream come true.”
Derksen said his move to the WAFL came by chance, with Thunder football manager Matt Rosa in the Northern Territory watching his NTFL side Nightcliff for someone else before he caught Rosa’s eye.
“I was just playing NTFL for Nightcliff and Matt Rosa came to watch,” Derksen said.
“It’s actually pretty funny, he came to watch another young fella (Jamie Jones) play and saw me having a run and he gave me a buzz and we had a coffee.
“I couldn’t be happier that I made the move. I’m injury-free, having a good run at it and starting to get a bit of footy under my belt.”
Derksen is the latest in a strong NT connection at Peel alongside Brodie Lake (Southern Districts Football Club), now Gold Coast Sun Sandy Brock (Palmerston) and recent recruit Brodie Carroll (Waratah).
He’s from the same club as former Fremantle defender and dual Peel premiership player Ryan Nyhuis, with fellow ex-Docker Tom North also having a stint at Nightcliff

Rosa had coffee with one H Reid recently.
lol.
Don’t go there.
watched by the WA clubs and suitors in Victoria as well, according to Herald Sun’s Josh Barnes.
“Wade Derksen’s probably not on the lips of many footy fans, but he is on the lips of recruiters and he’s going to be in the trade market,” Barnes revealed on Fox Footy’s Midweek Tackle.
“He has multiple suitors in Victoria, WA clubs are after him as well. He’s playing at GWS in the VFL this year, he’s played defence all year – he also thinks he’s a forward, kicked six goals (in three games) late in the year for GWS!
“Melbourne Demons are one club that are after him, he’s about to have twins this week so he’s after a bit more family support – he has that both in WA and Victoria, but Victoria’s probably his preference (as) he has a bit more family support there."
Derksen has played 44 reserve games for the Giants, proving he can be an asset at both ends.
