Great head of hair too
That old school footy drill where the coach would kick the ball along the ground and two guys had to compete for the footy until one emerged with the hard ballā¦ I wonder who would win more out of 10 between peak Haynes and Alwyn Jnr.
We should pickup Blake Carcella, heās heading back to Melbourne.
Also thereās a kid called Eddie Betts, should grab in the draft.
I didnāt mean to imply that youād trade that whole list all in one go. I was speaking a bit more generally, as Iāve seen the idea of trading 2MP even with Bryan leaving mentioned a few times. Iām a little wary of what our ruck situation could look like next year, thatās all.
Well if we cant get into Bolton(who would be sensational for our front half.)
Im guessing we might be holding those carrots in front of Cam Rayner as he would come over without spending draft capital.
Thats the player we need that electric forward of centre mid/forward. Someone who can actually kick a footy. No idea why Brisbane stuff Rayner in their backline sometimes.
I saw him actually back away from a contest in the twos one day.
I canāt think of anything worse than trading 2 firsts for Bolton
Liam Ryan. Bring.
Him a Facebook login
But this becomes a completely meaningless statement. Of course anyone should be tradeable if its a good deal. And water is wet. Saying if a good deal came along youād be willing to trade out players X, Y and Z doesnāt give an opinion, it is just waffle.
It is in the specifics why it matters, which is why I was calling you out on your statements that you donāt rate Cox/Perkins/Reid/Hobbs/Tsatas but you also somehow think we can trade them for players/picks that will solve our problems. The first part is compeletly at odds with the second bit. Unless you think we can solve some of our problems cheaply?
So again, pretty meaningless. If the price is right Iād trade anyone, its just a nothing statement.
I mean, you list 11 players for retirement/delisting, and then walk it back in the next post. Say who you think should be delisted, and why. If you donāt really think we should delist 11 + trade some out, then donāt list them like you would.
Firstly, what triggers me is statements which donāt make any sense. Like thinking trading out players you donāt rate (which presumably means will get low value) will somehow fix issues.
But maybe you should get some basic facts right. Like that Iāve been saying for years whoever is responsible for the plan to keep topping up including if it is Dodoro should be fired. That Iāve said we should do a full rebuild. That I was against topping up, and would have traded players like Shiel and let Laverde go years ago, and would have traded Heppell back in 2019 and delisted him more recently. That I would be focussing on development and sacrifice wins to get a better draft hand and future performance.
Why I defend Dodoro, is that in my opinion in a well run organisation most of those decisions would lie with the CEO and director of football/coach, not the list manager. Iāve assumed that the list manager is implementing a plan put in by the board and highest management. So, if his instructions were to top up, then last yearās moves were fine within that context. I defend him within that context.
That doesnāt mean for a moment Iām happy with the clubās approach to list building, something Iāve called out repeatedly for over a decade.
I also donāt think our drafting has been bad, so defend Dodoro on that front.
Ha ha ha. Iāve been saying the list isnāt good enough for years. Iāve been saying that it is impossible to win a premiership without a full rebuild.
Just I blame the actual people in charge, and assume that isnāt Dodoro. If he is responsible, Iāve been saying for years then he needs to go. Or whoever was making that call.
We must do everything possible to trade up to get the picks for Richard Tambling
Exactly. That is why the post is not really āsayingā anything.
Lots of players would be considered for delisting. Lots of players would be traded if the right trade came along. But the reality is, especially for the recent high picks, youāre unlikely to get a pick which will translate into a better likelihood of getting a player than the player we already have. So just listing everyone isnāt particularly useful.
Iād be targeting Scott West, Nick Dal Santo and/or another midfield jet.
Blow the list up please
Ryan and Perryman would infinitely improve our team and structure.
Perryman replaces Kelly
Ryan replaces Menzie.
Add Kako.
All of sudden we look completely different.
Yeah I donāt know how much better that makes us. They are the sort of players that if say we finished 5th or 6th and maybe made it to the semi finals and they would elevate us to top 4, yeah youād get them in. At best they take us from a 9th/10th placed team into 7th or 8th. They are icing on the cake players. Problem is we havenāt even mixed the eggs and butter in with the dry ingredients yet. This list build is being done in an arse about way. It has me worried about what sort of ceiling this group will ultimately have, wonāt lead to any tangible success (lucky to even win a final) and by the time the inevitable need to hit the reset button comes Tassie will have all the early picks.
Ryan is icing on cake and will go to a finals side.
Perryman will go to the biggest $$$$ but also needs to be a team capable of winning finals in the near term and have a spot in best 22 for him.
Sorry but thatās just not true.
Ryan and Perryman are OK players, but theyāre B+ at best but I think more likely B graders.
Theyād be replacing a B grader and a C grader.
Thereās no infinite improvement there, itās marginal at best.
B/B+ players donāt move the needle
This, this, this.
Perryman, Ryan, Ainsworth ā¦ heck, Gresham.
Expensive tickets to nowhere.
