I tend to agree - unpopular view but I’d send 2 x first rounders plus Nick Martin to WCE for Harley Reid.
Be bold!

Personally I want the 70-80% of the team traded/delisted.
But if the club is still going their slowly & softly approach of improving the list.
Forget your Perryman’s and others.
You can find blokes on our list who will be serviceable enough in that role.
Liam Ryan is the only player who fills a need desperately. Or at least until we have a long term fix for the small forward role.
The jury is out on him, and if he can capture his past form…. But he’s still better than anything we have available.
I assume you are rating Kelly B and Menzie C??
That is laughable.
C and maybe a D- for a B/B+ player moves the needle a lot.
Football isn’t a 5 v 5 sport like basketball where one or 2 players have a great impact on a team. In an 18 a side sport the impact that one or two players have is a lot less. If you put the best player in the AFL (Bont) into the worst team (Richmond), is much gonna change? Not really, they’ll still suck. They might have won another 2-3 games, but they’d still be bottom 3.
Ryan would be a definite upgrade on Menzie and Davey Jr without question. Perryman is a good footballer but he isn’t going to transform us from either being a ■■■■ team defensively to a good team defensively, nor will he all of a sudden make our ball movement out of D50 elite. You bring them both in, it probably is worth 2 spots on the ladder. If you’re a 5th or 6th ranked team and it gets out into the top 4, fantastic. If you’re al 9th/10th team and at best it gets you 7th or 8th, is there much point? You’re still a long way off the premiership pace…
I disagree that there is not much point. If you are improving the list in a sustainable way each off-season by upgrading the talent of players across the team - then that is a valid strategy. It’s not a sexy scorched Earth, ‘trade everyone’ approach that is easy for footy forum punters to advocate for - but it looks like across the league this is a pretty consistent trend in list management strategy.
And yeah, we need 2-3 more seasons of ‘upgrading’ players on our list with purposeful targeting of the right type of players.
Ryan and Kako is far better than anything we have right now.
1000%.
Trade our first for Ryan which will get pushed into the teens after bidding then grab Kako
A 1st round pick for what will be a 28 year-old small forward averaging less than a goal per game this year. Right…
Our first for Liam Ryan?
Are you people farking mental?
The guy who hasn’t kicked over 20 goals in a season since 2021?
While l would like us to pick up Bolton, he is not worth anywhere near that much.
I’m adding to the list of things that Nino just cannot tolerate:
I’d be very wary recruiting Liam Ryan as a Victorian club. Let alone shelling out a first for him.
I remember before he was drafted (as a mature ager) there was basically an understanding that clubs outside of WA needn’t apply. It was either he was going to play for one of the WA clubs or not at all because the upheaval away from his support network would make it almost unworkable. Now whether that would have changed significantly enough as he’s become accustomed to the demands of the game, I’m not sure.
I see you have learnt nothing from last season’s trade period when you wanted to give up all our trade currency early to get Tex and the Davey Twins. The recruiting team held their nerve and picked them up for a packet of chips. Now you are advocating the same thing for Ryan who is not worth anywhere near a first round.
That is so farking depressing.
What if we throw in Heppell?
Then I’d be querying where we’d be getting our second first rounder from.
You could accept that if we were in the premiership window. The fact we probably won’t make the 8, the fact we’ve been so ■■■■ for so long, yeah that’s pathetic. It also shows how ■■■■ our recent drafting has been.
We drafted one of them and he’s playing for fkg Hawthorn
