Trade talk - from August 2024

Fair call…
Stringer I can live without although if he stays its 12 months only. But rather have him about but prioritise and progress a different forwardline setup without him week to week.

Lav is depth but forced to play week in week out this season gone. And yes he was poor in some games but don’t ignore the lack of team defending in front of him as the season wore on. As long as Ridley and Reid stay on the park he’s ideally only a seasoned experienced 3rd tall replacement next year. But if he goes we need backup as Hayes will need a bit of time … so if no defensive trades incoming we’re too light on up back.

Just my take.

Who the hell is going to pay pick 24 for Laverde.

He is terrible, and we have all been saying it all year.

At best we can expect a late 30’s pick, and that would be very fair.

That’s ok. I’d rather try and unearth a youngster in defence and give them a chance, rather than playing experienced guys who aren’t at the level

Still contracted for another year we only let him go if the deal is suits us.

He’s part of the best 22 and not some fringe player that cant get a game if Saints wont give up a decent pick then we keep him

If it’s true, we have told him to look elsewhere. You take what you can get in that situation. You don’t push players out if the club and then play hardball.

It"s not playing hard ball club would want some thing decent in return

A pick in the 30’s or 40’s is not going to help us we need to get as many picks as we can in the top 30.

Lavs the type that will be happy too stick around if a trade dosent happen imo.

He isn’t worth a top 30 pick. I’d be happy to move him on for whatever we can get.
With Dodoro gone it’s time to change how we do things

Finally getting back at us for the Boekhurst dupe

Looking for his new Zac Dawson

Everyone is so gullible lol. These ‘rumours’ come from his player manager who is trying to get his player the best deal possible. As simple as that, its quite literally their job to ink out as much money as possible and one way to do that is by putting pressure on their current workplace by giving out rumours of interest from other clubs through the media.

Time will tell …

Yeah
He’s a victim of Scott’s crazy‘game plan’ that puts our defence under undue pressure
In another team with a proper coach and a workable game plan he’ll thrive
And you’ll all be asking who was responsible for letting him go
Scott’s the AFL plant to drag our club into irrelevance he’s the one we should be getting rid of before he does any more damage

Then we’d get to use pick 28. If you can turn Lav and Shiel into a second, you take it and run.

Is that a F2? If not it’ll disappear when kako bidded on and be worthless wouldn’t it?

I don’t follow the draft close enough to know what the quality is like in the 3rd or 4th round. I think we should just try and make smart deals full stop. The “just sign them” or “just trade them away” approach adds up. Small mistakes or concessions can end up hurting down the line particularly if we do it multiple times over. Always get the best value you can.

That’s what i was answering. Pick 24 might be used by the bid, then we’d get to use our pick 28 in the draft. Say he gets bid on at around 18 (he’s injured and not playing footy before the draft, so it’s likely he slides a few spots), then 24 would basically cover Kako with the 20% point discount.

With Lav and Kelly gone our defence is instantly better. We can’t afford to have blokes would turn it over so much.

Why is a pick in the 40s not going to help us? Can still pick arguably good players in that range
Especially as this draft is a deep one
