You canāt let Merrett go. Thatās soul destroying of a club and it doesnāt fix itself with a few good recruitsā¦ You can offload any other player but the club canāt let 5 x B&F and captain go.

I actually reckon this is a really dumb move from St Kilda.
Weird type of player in terms of age demo for them to be targeting given how away they are.
Next year Hill will be 32, Wood 31, Sinclair 30, Jones 30, Steele 29, Butler 29, Howard 29, Wilkie 29, etc and theyāre still miles off it. If anything, they should look at trading some of those blokes for more picks.
Imagine being a Saints fan coming off a 12th finish, with their list profile, and seeing them trade top 10 picks and/or a King, NWM etc for a 29 year old mid lol youād be fuming!
Plus, thereās the whole issue around Merrett unlikely to want to leave, heās contracted, EFC wonāt let him leave anyway, etc so theyād have to offer significant overs in a trade, which they wonāt - so most likely they end up with no Merrett & have put a revenge target on their head from one of the biggest Vic clubs to return serve and go hard for some of their players.

Thereās a difference between
- Shipping a player off
And
- Rather than keeping an unhappy player at the club who has requested to leave, you get maximum value.
That obviously hasnāt happened yet and so this is all hypothetical at this point. But if it was the second situation, it would show that we have actually learnt from the Daniher fiasco where keeping him around did nothing other than reduce what we would have got for him in return.

Iām arguing I think the club isnāt transparent and aligned with its captain and I think its track record communicating with fans is consistent with this. Might be unfair to connect the two but it appears the case.
I remember being ā ā ā ā ā ā when Joe left, I just donāt really care anymore. Hopefully Rosa does a better job than Dordoro with the picks.

Anzac Fay 2023 seems to be the only time recently.
We went ok that day.
