Curtis Taylor been let go, interesting

Cal Twomey thinks a few ok players will be let go due to the depth of this years draft…wish we had more picks.

I remember he was good in his first year but nothing since then. Gorth’s development is a lot like ours.

The unfortunate timing in this is other clubs are less likely to trade out their picks for some of our players (Stringer, Shiel, Laverde et al) as they want access to the draft too. It’s not a problem we can solve easily.

Doubt that we could give those 3 away this year

Our recruiting and list management team have never had any idea about the strength of upcoming drafts. Absolute fkn amateur hour.

Rosa working with one hand tied behind his back this year.

I don’t mind Curtis Taylor actually.

Did he have 2 working eyes when watching matches?

I want a forward line of Wright, Kreuger, Guelfi, Menzie & Curtis Taylor.

So he’s better than our current FF options then?

Maybe Scott is the one tieing his hand behind his back not Dodoro.

Rosa: We have got to make wholesale changes to the lineup, lets start with the defence.

Scott: ok
Rosa: Heppell has been slowing down for a couple of years it’s time his contract won’t be renewed.

Scott: He has plenty of experience, but ok, shall I give him a farewell match.
Rosa: yes thats fine

Scott: ok will save him for the last match then
Rosa: Also we need to let Kelly go and try and move on Laverde

Scott: No Kelly 's so versatile he can play Wing and in the forwardline as well as a close checking defender.

Rosa: Kellys already indicated he will retire, don’t try and talk him out of it.
Scott: Ok But Lav’s still contracted were losing a lot of experience in defence we should keep him.

Rosa: I’ve already let his manager know that he should explore his options if he wishes a future contract.

Scott: Bugger, are you looking at moving on anyone else, hows Stringers contract extension going?

Rosa: We’re not extending him mate, he has a trigger for 2025 and he can stay on those terms or find a better deal.

Scott: If he goes where am I going to find another 40 goal a season player.
Rosa: you will, we need to restructure the forwardline anyway. Oh and Weideman we’re holding him over along with Setterfield, Davey and Goldstein until we get a good idea on where our national draft picks are and if we land any targets.

Scott: Well if Laverde goes, we will have to keep the weed, Goldstein is a family man, we need to keep him about and his experience, if we keep him on the list we can exclude his ruck coaching wage from the soft cap, plus we could force him to retire if we need a mid season draft pick.

Rosa: ok I will give Goldy a 1 year extension, but it will be the final one.
