Just take picks from next years draft. Having an extra second or third next year with 12 months to plan isn’t the worst.
Hope those late picks we threw out last year don’t bite us
Should have gone last year. But I think they gave him another year.
He was good as a junior.
But very ‘soft’ as an AFL player. Is skilful but has no real damaging aspect of his game. Not much of a tackler. Not ‘speedy’.
He’s a VFL player. And that’s about it.
Not one player linked to us - how is this possible? The strong get stronger and we get ■■■■■■■!
Would you like a Shiel mk 2 type trade?
Maybe it’s because Dodoro keeps giving away middle-round picks.
No just some players (the positions we need to fill) to give us the chance to be better. For example Cumming in the final was fantastic and would have fulfilled a HBF need. The players have been going to where they are going for months now - did we drop the ball when were playing well and think we were better? Geelong getting better again!
Last year was great having McKay, Gresham, Goldstein linked to us.
Made such a difference….
Can’t believe Goldy is about to sign on again and the Weid is on the list. Can I suspend my memberships until they ■■■■ off? Another preliminary final weekend and we are nowhere near it again!!!
While I don’t agree with the desperate need to trade players in, it’s worth considering that things might be happening that we, and journalists, don’t know about.
We can only hope? The number of kids in Bombers gear at the Footy Dress Up at school today was terrible - we are losing a whole generation.
Heaps at my kids school and daycare
Little Miss B had footy colours day too. She doesn’t really care about football, but I normally dress her in red and black and give her my old scarf and beanie.
Today, she pulled rank. Told me she didn’t want to wear Essendon because “they’re always crap”.
I couldn’t argue and really, I no longer have it in me to care. Fark you very much Essendon.
She wore red and white instead, which is far more palatable than it could’ve been…
My son goes for the bulldogs because he likes dogs. My daughter goes for the Bombers because I do. She doesn’t really care if they win or lose because she doesn’t care about footy anyway.
In the end, most kids just follow the parents. If they are fickle enough to change because of the team not winning, they will swing back pretty easy when they are. Tigers went through decades of being a joke, but they all jumped back on board pretty quick.
Most parents now were around during the early 2000s, they are still on board. Tbh I think the idea of a lost generation would actually take about 40 years to occur rather than 20.
The odds are players aren’t interested in going to teams who have been crap more often than not through their lifetime.
We’re still trying to sort our ■■■■ out in the footy department too. This will take time.
The only thing we’ve got going for us is the Anzac Day, Dreamtime and Kings Bday games.
You don’t become a destination club by not making finals. And you certainly don’t become one whilst racing to the bottom chasing draft picks.
Aside from the interstate ‘go home factor’ you pretty much need to make finals to be attractive to opposition players.
Sadly I agree.
Honestly, looking at the players available, I’m not sure any are right for us unless we give up our first round pick which should be completely off limits. We need to rebuild, not bring in more B or C graders.
My 7 year old will be a grand parent and his grand children won’t even know he ever went for Essendon.
She’ll be back
Little Miss Scotty went in Collingwood colours today because my wife goes for them and they were in a grand final. My 4y.o son follows the bombers because of me and I’ve got a 9 month old that I hold out hope will follow the dons and see us be good again in his lifetime.
