Trade talk - from August 2024

My boys both had their footy days this week. Both proudly went in their Essendon colours. They kind of had no choice being named Fletch and Joe. Could’ve taken the dog Hurley to school as well. It’s all about brainwashing people.

It’s easy; no Essendon allegiance, no inheritance!

Now that’s a revolutionary way of thinking

In that interview with Zac it seems the club are focussing on the draft this year. Oh yeah, love the bloke and his commitment to the cause. He’s keen to go another 8-10 years too. Hopefully, he gets to experience long deserved success.

My daughter had footy colours day, was really excited to wear Essendon colours and said there were heaps of kids at her school wearing red and black.

At least Hobbs has a bit of grit and guts about him which is something many of our team lack. Sadly, whatever was fuelling 2MP has diminished. He is not a patch on the player he once was.

Zac Merrett, if it is really true and is NOT JUST GOSSIP St.Kilda made you offered you a life changing offer - then fgs Zac take it. This Essendon team is going nowhere fast. You may have 4/5 years to play. You have done your best here, now think of your future and your family.

These sorts of offers do not come along every day of the week. Absolutely no hard feelings.

Thank god.

Not sure the offer to Zac “Life changing”. Does having one Lamborghini in the garage or 2 change ones life?

Wow, you really invested in us getting Joe Berry at the draft this year.

That we’re focusing on the draft this year is great. That we’ve already compromised our draft hand with moves we made last year highlights how poor our long term strategic planning has been

what moves were they last year?

Coming into a mega draft with no second or third rounder.

Just on that on Thursday night Zach mentioned that the Lambo was on loan and he was reluctant to take it, as he was scared he might get in a bingle driving it. He also had to park it in the street as his house doesn’t have a garage.

As for his family? He revealed that he and Alexandra are expecting a baby in mid January, so congratubabylations will be due then.

Remembering that we used the 2nd round pick we got from Carlton as part of the deal to trade up for caddy.

Holding our nerve on caddy by not trading up, holding our nerve and not giving up additional future picks as part of zerk trade, potentially trading the Carlton second round pick into 2024 would have been better long term planning.

And fwiw, with the benefit of hindsight, Lawson Humphries and or arie Schoenmakers at the back end of last year’s draft would have our polished running defender options looking a lot healthier.

My 8 year old has decided to barrack for richmond now.

I didn’t see too many Bombers gear either. If i’m too embarrassed to wear it out it’s totally understandable for the kids not to either.
