I think after 3 years in the system Rosa will be making better decisions than Dodoro in 20

Looking forward to him using some draft capital.

Or perhaps…

so many threads to keep track of

This article is stupid.

The only player in that list with remotely any value is Draper. The rest will be for a packet of chips. This is not like some ā€œgame changingā€ strategy. With that said, I do hope none of them are playing for Essendon in 2026

Why you hate Essendon players so much?

This club needs to learn how to sell players when their value is high.

Does that include successful teams like Geelong and Brisbane?

Tim Kelly? Jordan Clarke?

Tim Kelly wanted to go back home to WA Geelong didnt push him out theres a diffrence

Jordan Clarke dont know

Clarke also wanted out and initiated things.
But we don’t let pesky facts get in the way here

The difference is that Geelong cashed in when the value was high.

We should be doubling down on selling players who are a maximum value, because we’re in a rebuilding phase…… as we’re not going anywhere for 5-10 years, there’s no point hanging on to players.

Only because Kelly wanted to get home wasn’t by design.

We might do the same if Draper wants to go home

Don’t let facts get in the way of Clarke being under contract……… and Geelong did the trade anyway.

Unlike us, who doubles down and refuses to trade contracted players.

I think the difference also is that Kelly and Clarke knew they had some currency and would get some good contract offers.

Our players, unlike the club, know they’re ā– ā– ā– ā–  and think ā€œif I just stay quiet these idiots will keep paying meā€

People forget that Geelong tried very hard to keep Kelly and ended up staying before requesting a trade again the next year.

Outside of Daniher (which I always maintained was the wrong call to keep), who actually wants any of our players?
Where have our players come out openly and said they want to leave, only for us to hold them?

Kelly wanted out the year prior and Geelong refused. There were murmurs around Clarke also. I’m also not sure pick 22 was great value for Clarke (with a 3rd > 4th swap), but probably ok in the end. I know which I’d rather though.

Our issue isn’t ā€œnot trading contracted playersā€. It’s offering players such long contracts they don’t actually want to leave.

Again, they’re ā– ā– ā– ā–  and know the best ride they’re going to get is at Essendon.

Regardless, I don’t know what Brisbane and Geelong have to do with our situation.

We are rebuilding. We need capital. We need to trade our players.

We need to trade players at the highest price. Like Draper.
