Trade talk - from October 2024 (Part 7)

No to JUH.

C’mon Nino, are you serious ?
Too risky, and Caddy is a similar forward anyway.

JUH will be a great pick up for a strong club with a great culture.

That, unfortunately, is not us.

How do you know?

McGrath is a match winner.

That’s actually a pretty impressive highlight reel. All hail PANDO. Hopefully he can back it up on Friday.

Got to say that I did not achieve tumescence at all watching Harley Reid play on Saturday night.
That reaction was probably justified, when checking the stats showing he was 20th rated player for the bottom team in the AFL

So can someone tell me why we so desperately want to throw 3 first round picks at WCE for this kid?

Yeh, nah, no big deal: Cripps is pretty much in the queue for the knackery at the end of the season.
He will find Bobby Hill much faster, agile and dangerous even though he averages just 1 goal a game in 2025.

Yeh. OK. How would you rate his game against us? How many 1st round picks is 1 fend off worth?

I only watch Essendon games so have a limited sample of his games. I liked what I saw, he was being targeted by our players and didn’t take a backward step. He will get past that stage and be a gun, I’m sure of it. Get him.

HR is sand bagging

I believe we were upset that Bulldogs bend us over for Crameri. We wanted a mid to late first rounder. They said pick 26 or pre-season draft.

At the time I remember posting in bigfooty all angry and cursing the Dogs, saying that Crameri will hardly play for them due to injuries and we will draft a champion of the game.

Lol. That’s why they hate Merrett… the fact we got him for Crameri pick.

it wasn’t great, but Durham was also ineffectual offensively. Durham was tagging a 2nd year player, but was a nil all draw.

i didn’t like Reid roughing Roberts up or burying Durham in a tackle.

he’s frustrated.

McGrath smashed Hill in the '23 game even worse.
Hardly gave him a kick, and Hill was coming off good form.

Charlie McCartin get him!!

Jye Caldwell cost 2 seconds.

I like Jye Caldwell.

Theres always other options out there.

Other than Reid , wow if Rowell was indeed on the move.

I’d love Rowell but I can’t see why on earth he’d pick us over a contending team. But geez he’d love amazing in red and black.

I think we are the equivalent of a Will Day away from doing a hawthorn.

Maybe one or two more.

So I do think good talent will be attracted to the dons.

The Hawks got Day at the draft though. So that’s where I think Melbournes first rounder probably has to be used this year.

We can still sell next years if that brings another good player in trade week.

Clubs that will have decent 2025 draft hands for trades(multiple firsts and later picks)

Gold Coast: haul tied to academy prospects
Richmond: theirs and norths
Essendon: Ours and Melbournes.
West Coast: theirs and probably Allen compo.(I don’t think they will attract players so will go to the draft)
Every other club would be otherwise trading futures to get top talent demanding multiple firsts.

So we have I think some flexibility.

We can talk list all day, but I maintain that injuries are our number one issue. Too many injuries to key players far too often. Just no continuity at all for this squad
