Trade talk - from October 2024 (Part 7)

Fair, I don’t really count Wright though just cause he chops out. Otherwise you could also argue freo/suns play 6 rucks too

They need to change him to be a full time Ruckman.

I’m happy to keep him as a KPF

at the dees though

He’s not leaving unless we pay a large portion of his contract.

He’s can’t exist as a KPP in the modern game. He’s a very serviceable Ruckman, who has an excellent tank…. I see no reason why he shouldn’t be our 3rd Ruckman.

It’s not just the saga guys that were spent at 30, outside of Hird and Fletcher most guys drafted in the 90s or 00’s packed it in or fell to pieces around that age

One big reason is I’d rather play almost any other ruck on our list ahead of him

Wright is going to be useless at any position if he doesn’t get his aggression back. He hasn’t been the same since the Cunningham bump/suspension.

You can thank our spineless club for that.

2MP is too one dimensional and is too soft for me, I think he is a temporary depth player until Our young KPF and Ruck (Vigo, Gerreyne) options are mature enough to be given development games and can fill that depth.)

Bryan isn’t much harder but he fits the mobile “extra mid” category of big guy so can offer a “presence” in other ways.

I dont know how you would even handle that situation these days besides providing full support and putting an arm around him. And i cant beleive the club didnt make every effort to get their star key forward back into a good mental space. Were not in the 80’s anymore where you can just tell blokes to “harden the fk up” and “get on with it”.

He never had aggression. He has some weapons, but the physical side was never his go.

I see no difference in the way he goes about it prior to, or post the suspension… It’s just who he is.

It’s just a convenient excuse

Thats how he managed his B&F season and the season prior. Are you telling me a good key position forward can kick 53 goals in an AFL season without aggression? while you’ve got the biggest and best key position defender hanging off you? in many cases, 2 or 3 defenders on your back? i dont think so…

I’m not saying first or second…. I’m saying 3rd.

As in, he’s better Ruckman than Goldstein, Visenti and Gerreyn.

I’m not sure why having Wright as a 3rd choice Ruckman is an issue for people.

Wright is on our list as a forward and wasn’t Gerreyn drafted to be a KPP?

There’s been many key forwards who have revitalised their careers by moving into the Ruck full time.

Why can’t wright be a 3rd choice Ruckman and also a back up key forward? Why can’t he be both?

Agreed. I think it was the early part of the 2022 season when 2mp rucked in the absence of all our other rucks. He did very well as I recall.

FWIW on the Houston stuff, Vozzo was on SEN last week and said he was a long time admirer and we had interest as a club, but determined it was the wrong direction for where we are at.

I’d be targeting Sinn.

I recommend King Street or a trip up to the Gold Coast then Ants

How come? He hasn’t shown a whole heap.
