Trade talk - from October 2024 (Part 7)

He is a beautiful kick but can go missing at time.

If a qaulity young talent is avaible on market that fills a positional need right away then the club wouldnt be doing its job properly imo.

Vozzo said with the draft hand we got gives us flexibility to go to the draft or trade

Isnt this years draft crop dominated by ngas? We could be left with scraps at our picks.

If the stories about Jamarra being a nutter are true, the demons would be a good fit. They’ve got the terrible culture and would do anything to get a gun forward

He’s an elite midfielder now, I wouldn’t go back to the HB line if I were him, and if a club asked me to, I wouldn’t speak to them again.

Then he is of no use to us. Small mids are not of need

He’s 188, would become one of our tallest.

Wholly heck, fair play I always though he was smaller!
I guess standing next to Bont and Macrae will do that :joy:

Fwiw, I’m not saying we should get him as we have a lot of 1st choice mids and midfield depth already.

YES to Farrell.

Turns 26 next week.
Can cover 60m easily with a drop punt.

No star, but man we’ve been crying out for elite kicks off HB.

Elite kick. Doesn’t want to defend much, though.

Given the statement that was just made with stringer, it would be an odd move to basically repeat the process with Jamarra

Temu Houston

Farrell, Richards, and obviously Bont would all be a significant upgrade on players already in our 22. I can’t see Richards or Bont moving though.

FA who are still mid 20s are what we should be looking at to replace the natural attrition of our experienced retirees. Especially if Draper stays and we don’t need to worry about maintaining our compensation.

We need maintain our draft hand though, target the players that fit our new recruiting criteria so that we can build an identity as a team and club

Farrell & Richards are terrific pick ups.
Like most FA acquisitions, we need to over pay to get them.

We really need to find a way to get Parish & 2mp’s wages off the books longer term.

Farrell, Richards, and LDU should be the guys we make a play at, with a sneaky offer to Bont too.

All of them fit the brief and don’t cost any draft capital.

Hopefully we get 4x top 30 picks. Rowell would be a good fit but only at the right price.

Continue tyre kicking with Harley for a later date.

Wouldn’t go near a 29yo with complex calf injury

With the Bont being unrestricted free agent, you would offer him a good deal given we have the cap and back our medical staff in.
The only proviso on that is if Harley Reid agreed to come I would still rather trade for Harley so we have a gun for the next 10 years rather than 3-4.

It is actually common for star Bulldogs to leave the club rather than stay one club players.

I don’t think you’d be doing your job as list manager if you didn’t contact Bont’s agent to find out what he wants.

You go after Bont, you are immediately in the window. We don’t like to do anything immediately, we like patience.
