Trade talk - from October 2024 (Part 7)

Because we’re not like North

Last night just reinforces that most of our senior group are largely inconsistent flat track bullies who only really turn it on against ■■■■ opposition.

And even then they seem to struggle more often than not.

It’s going to take at least another 5-7 successfull off seasons for us to have any chance of being a top 4 side.

If we think Reid is a star and he’s interested (which let’s be honest would have to be a million to one long shot) then you get him. Merrett won’t be around forever and he will start to decline sooner rather than later.

Also given we are most likely going to continue to be a pile of dog ■■■■ club for the foreseeable future, at least get 1 or 2 decent players that will give fans something to get excited about

Reid is worth 2x first rounders. He’s as close as you can get to a guaranteed future star. We haven’t found one of those with our last 20 first round picks.

Whoever he nominates will work out a deal that will satisfy west coast.

He’ll read this board and how well spoken and inclusive it’s members are toward the players

We boo our own players

Just like Dunkley/Hill did with us?

Apologies I was talking about professional football clubs.

I mean, this is just a ■■■■ joke. Why would he refuse Essendon based on performance only to stay on at West Coast.

Creator should stick to their day job.

Good thing for Doggies is, they can basically offload him and move on as they are flying at the moment. And still have Weightman and Darcy to come back.

At his age it isn’t about being a basket case. It would be about who he is connected to.
Does he have friends from his Juniors for example.

At that age he would still believe he can change things. Like Caddy and Kako.
It’ll take a few years to destroy that.

Plus the millions fo dollars a year speaks pretty loudly. Funny how more people don’t talk about the money as a factor.

You have maybe a 5-10 year career as an AFL footballer if you’re lucky…after that your body is permanently changed (sometimes the consequences are extreme). I would be sucking as much $$ from my time as possible.

No it’s not, my goodness.

At his age, it will be about (a) where he sees himself having success and (b) $$$$.

I’m sure we will be in the ballpark on (b) but we will be nowhere on (a).

This isn’t about a kick in the park with his mates ffs.

Pretty sure he’s going to get stupid big money wherever he lands.

One of those teams offerring it might also offer the chance of having on-field suiccess, too.

A is always speculative. What about Judd joining the Blues. I bet he thought there was a good chance at success.

Harley is very young. I think the decision hierarchy would look something like:

  • Victorian
  • $$$
  • Size of club/fanbase/marque games
  • Mates
  • Short term chance at success

Classic example, Buckley to Collingwood. In saying that at least he got to Grand Finals.
