Hindsight would also imply the only major misses were Holmes who didn’t seem to be rated by most, and maybe McCreery and Ginivan (who went as a rookie). The other major misses everyone made (Newcombe, Moyle, Durham, Martin). Hopefully Edwards!
There are obviously a few first rounders who look like they may be ok off limited time. But I don’t think Bruhn, Stone etc look better than Perkins, or Reid or Cox did as prospects.
Make of this what you wish but all reports at the time were that Dogs wanted 2 firsts and reading between the lines, Dodoro was still recovering from getting shafted on the Shiel deal and ■■■■■■ it up.
Would you trade 2 of Cox, Reid and Perkins for a younger Dunkley?
I’ll preface this by saying we probably shouldn’t read too much into trade rumours in March, but am I the only one opposed to this trade if it involves Martin + multiple first rounders? The picks, sure, but Martin has gotten better every year, is very driven, and has shown he can be a game changer. Reid is an amazing (generational) prospect but that’s too much to give up IMO, especially before he has shown he can reach the level of fitness needed at this level.
