I have a feeling that we are not into Reid because of the Rosa and Vozzo connection to WC.
With the changes coming to future pick trading all teams will have plenty of picks to throw around it they want.
If Martin doesn’t want to be traded he won’t be part of the deal. I like the way we are talking about this like it’s an actual thing.

Granted, some of his highlights this year were ridiculous.
I’m a little concerned about the changes to the htb rule, as well as his work rate at times.
Also, 1.8 mil per year will buy you 2 very good players.
- the cost in terms of Draft picks and/or players.
I’m not convinced that his acquisition will be the panacea you think it will be.

A lot of people get narky (not saying you are).
It’s naive to think that if we were to prize away the highest paid player in AFL history from a WA club after his 2nd season, that a highly rated WA talent under 25yo wouldn’t be part of the deal.
He is the one player in the league that I could guarantee will win us a final (unless he’s injured)
Total fantasy footy run amok at times, it would be amusing but l suspect some Blitzers are serious in their intent.

Oh if we were getting Caddy I’d have no problem including Martin, however like when we tried to trade Hooker for Caddy if the player doesn’t want to go that’s pretty much it.
This is only my opinion.
If we think we are in the box seat to get Harley Reid, and WC are adamant they want Nic Martin in the deal (which they will), we will coax him to leave to the point he will be so insulted by our lack of loyalty, he will relent.
I’m reading the future here.
I don’t understand this West Coast will demand Nic Martin business? Why?
He trained with them and they were not interested, they had multiple chances to select him but they didn’t want him. He didn’t magically become a great player because he put on a different jumper. They know him inside out and still for whatever reason aren’t interested. No Martin to Eagles. The End.

Because he’s a proven good player now, and will probably enhance his standing this year playing a combo of hf, wing & mid.
All these recruiters have no idea how to guarantee a Premiership. It’s very simple, have every players contract end in the same year, as we all know that the contract year is year that most players knuckle down & produce their best performance. 
Reid only worth 2 x top 7 picks.
The thing is would you let Parish and Draper leave if it was able to get you Reid?
If we finish bottom 5-7, then we could get Draper FA compo pick after our first…use those two top 7 picks on Reid. Trade Parish for a top 15 pick.
Use our remaining draft picks; 2 x 1sts, 2 x 2nds on:
- an elite small forward prospect to partner Kako
- an elite key forward prospect to partner Caddy
- 2 x elite kicking ball using backs/mids-
Would be a massive influx of young talent over Brad’s time. Grow that list together and can be contending within 2 years.
