Trade talk - from October 2024 (Part 7)

The trouble has been once our players reach that age group they have been corrupted by the same mindset that has infested this club for the last 20 years: near enough is good enough; no need to try too hard as chances are you will not get delisted; good to get early bookings for Ibeza.

Do just enough to get a big chunky 6 year contract, and then chillout and let the good times roll.

why would you bother extending yourself and doing extra sessions to overcome your weaknesses, when the club is handing out multimillion dollar deals for having done SFA?

Let Draper go and pickup Moyle?

No way GC let Moyle go. Witts is 32yo.

Can’t see any value in letting Merret go, let alone pushing him (even gently).

  • 30 at seasons end
  • Not going to a team with an early first–
  • Might go to pies, cats, lions etc - nothing but late first rounders there-
  • Too old to force them to find an early first-

Weak (or maybe just shallow) draft… for our best leader, best player, heart and sole… it’s Crazy talk.

Along with basically one of two or three professional trainers / preparers we have… you’d be mad unless he actually really wanted to force his way out

under contract and an historically significant player at Essendon - who if he left would be giving up a lifetime of easy money after he retires at Essendon from all the private investment players like him can get - chances of that are 2/3rds of ā– ā– ā– ā–  all.

If Merrett wants to go, I’d rather we let him.

I think if he sticks it out another year he’d get a second wind and some motivation back when he sees another year of development from the squad, but looking at him at the moment I suspect he’s thinking about what it could be like somewhere else before he’s done.

This will get some heat but since injuries hit the team this year I reckon he’s lost some intensity.

I want him to be like Crawford and 2028 to be our 2008, but if he doesn’t believe that’s possible, take two first rounders or one and a promising young player and keep building.

Hes a really wierd looking dude. Makes me feel uncomfortable . For that reason, we need to look elsewhere.

BDB ā€œwell, he is from Gorf, which I like, but… he is young, so not sure I’d rush to play him until forced, this is a hard oneā€

I’m suprised that there isn’t talk about more talk about opposition clubs into Hobbs or Bryan.

We have all of Redman, Parish, McKay, McGrath and Ridley on long term deals.

I look at that group versus a few other sides groups of players on long term deals and it doesn’t feel impressive. Certainly not ā€œbuild your side aroundā€

He is but he’s a wanker for saying it publicly and bring it to ahead, especially with that human excrement Mclure goading him into it and getting off on Lloyd agreeing with him.

Lloyd can get fked.

Probably tells you Everything you need to know about our players.

That group of players has a construction feel about it. A cement boots being pushed off a boat type of feel.

The house our previous list manager built.

I guess they’re also names that the media don’t give an F about

With the exception of Ridley this is a train wreck.
Woeful decisions by the club to give these lengths of contracts to these players.

Hate to say it but Ridley is a train wreck aswell with injuries

At the moment, but, I still think if we can get him fit, he is the one with the most upside.
McGrath’s disposal is embarrassing, at times. He is a terrible choice as VC, but it does show how empty the leadership pool has been for quite a while.
McKay was an awful pick up.
Parish is close to finished.
Redman has never been that good.

I don’t disagree with the other three and Ridley is the far better player but giving him the contract we did and then extending it further was bad business
