Trade talk - from October 2024 (Part 7)

Wrong

Why does Connors have anything anything to do with either Allen or Reid requesting a trade to hawthorn?

Gieschen is Reid and Barass’ manager and part of Connors stable. Allen has a completely different management company (I think he is still with CSM)

While we say if Reid chooses Hawthorn then they’ll get it done. If WC lose Allen and Barrass to Hawthorn then WC won’t just do the Hawks a favour.
Hawks 26 & 27 draft picks aren’t looking very appealing. They’ll struggle to satisfy WC.

They don’t have the trade capital to get both

Allen’s a free agent

He doesn’t. Connors will simply try to get Reid to the club that has the best fit for his client and he is very good at his job.

I still think if Oscar Allen leaves West Coast they may as pack it in over there.

He is their captain, key forward and is born and bred WA.

I mean maybe because he is 26 and they still have a few years in the wilderness.

Oscar Allen looks completely cooked. I wouldn’t be losing sleep over him. If West Coast are smart and there is a club stupid enough to offer him a deal that will trigger band 1 compo then I suspect they will happily bank the top 3 pick and continue their rebuild.

Is Mitch Lewis completely cooked with his knee? I would have thought lewis and Allen are very similar types.

Anyway if they go after Allen we should take a look at Lewis

Correct. My mail is that the Lions are still into him very hard aswell

I agree with this

Rowell is also considerably thicker out of the 2 haha.

:rofl: Nino you make me laugh haha

He could end up anywhere but I still think we are firmly
In the box seat.

I couldn’t disagree more with this.

Why should two clubs who are in completely different stages of their list build be doing exactly the same thing?

Hawthorn are already set. They’ve built the cake. They are well drilled and their system stands up.

They didn’t target, or at least didn’t land, any A Graders on big money until they had actually proven their standing in the competition.

Them now turning their attention to big names like this makes complete sense. Everything lines up perfectly with the timing of their list build. Now is the time to round it out and add the icing.

I guess we just disagree with where our list is at and thats fine.

We won 11 games last year, I personally think we are 3 key pieces and the right coaching away from dramatic improvement.
Reid and Allen would cover 2 of those pieces.

That is only my smooth brain blitz opinion of course.

This is basically every year in living memory for us

I kind of agree. A key forward, another quality small forward, running good user off halfback and Reid I think we’re much closer. I think you’d see a lot improvement from some players with more quality around them.
Maybe another wing.
Interesting how and where El Hawli develops

To go with a percentage of 90.
It wouldn’t be an Essendon season unless we had a percentage of under 100 and that is a fairly accurate account of where our list stands

I think these players are very young and have barely played together as a team overall - hoping synergies will improve tremendously over the year and from there some additions and experience will make a difference

I’d say he is someone we are chasing but I don’t think he will leave GC
