What makes people so confident that next years first could be a top 5 pick?
We have eyes.
I think we ill have roughly the same pick as this year
Maybe no one wants to go and as soon as you start pushing you lose all leverage.
Is that good or bad??
Which they wonât because those players I mentioned are part of the problem not the solution.
In 5 years time we will still be sitting here asking the same question
We got Caddy with pick 10 and will grab Kako whoâs rated in a simialr draft range
Unfortunately I agree with Nino.
Brad is a mid table master. Good at making â â â â teams slightly overperform because he extracts every last ounce from the old guys and wonât play young guys.
We wonât finish bottom 4 as much as I think that would be the best thing for us.
Why do people think our 1st pick will be a top 5?
We donât know what it could be
Only way is to trade everyone but that wont happen or have a stack of injuries to key players
42 goals from Stringer.
sure but youâre comparing Kako, 20 and 31 to something like 11, Kako and (later picks)
His hair
And he doesnât go i. Hard enough for it to be messed up
So you lie to them instead? Thatâs a sure fire way to build in distrust.
Hawthorn shouldâve said âNot our windowâ and stepped aside for another team.
Finals windows are bullshit
Correct.
9 and Kako
or Kako 20 and 31.
If Essendon genuinely think a bid will come before our pick #9, then itâs in our interest to consider breaking up our pick into a couple of later first rounders or a priority F1⌠Although more academy picks next year in first round complicated this. Thereâs no obvious low risk solve here.
Absolutely we should consider and be planning for it. But we only execute if and when the bid comes.
I agree
I would agree in principle, but doesnât the live trade scenario rely on other teams to respond favourably to a pick swap in the dynamic machinations of the live draft? In which case it is a less âsecureâ scenario than having this sewn up prior to draft night.
Iâm not against the idea but itâs not without risk.
