Trade talk - from October 2024

Maybe he could provide him a few bags to loosen up

We would be given a pick valued at 228 points. Somewhere in the 50’s, I think.

Tigers about 8 years to win a flag from when Hardwick took over

8 years for Brisbane

North have been down the bottom four for 5 years

So yeah can see it taking that long

I can assure you he is coming to us and no one else

Pies are going to blow themselves up completely for one last crack. Massive risk.

That’s a misrepresentation. They knew what the plan was while Dimma was notionally still coach. When it became clear he was gone and Yze took the reins, everyone at that club knew what was going to happen.

Is there a secret third option that isn’t just two equally bad basket cases?

Good

As @saladin said, the leftovers get turned into a pick. Or rather, what always happens when you match is that the pick gets moved back in the draft to after the last current pick with the same or lower value. Typically that’s zero points, so it gets pushed all the way to the back of the draft, but it still exists.

Whilst I agree that we need more good kicks, Maginness does solve a problem we have in our CB set up.
A problem we’ve been trying to solve with the injury prone Setterfield, and a combo of Stringer/Perkins.

Conor Nash is eating up whatever mid minutes Maginness would have gotten at the Hawks, thus reduced to playing Flanks.

He is get-able.
We should get him for reasonable cost.

Dosen’t sound like Hawks will be willing to trade Maguniess they rate him also Rosa dosent think anything will happen reckon we can just about cross him off the list

It’s day one of what, ten?

Things happen. We are interested in getting him so it’s not beyond reason we find a deal. WCE are going to play hard ball on Barrass, so there may be an opening yet.

Add: Hawks list boss used the phrase “he adds versatility”, which is code for “we’d prefer to keep him but he’s not indepsensible”.

Of course.

This is all part of the game going on.

Melbourne threaten to bid to get some leverage for something else.

We say, fine, you bid and he is all yours.

I’m pretty certain of two things - Melbourne won’t bid and he’ll be an Essendon player.

That’s good news for us, lacks skill. In saying that has more heart than 3/4 of our list

Why don’t these dumb ■■■■■ clubs include clauses in player contracts where “excess” early year payments return to the club, if the player leaves prior to contract end ??

Like the way Rosa communicates. Straight, up and down… says, it’s going to be a busy trade period.

Pumping up Jake’s value, looks most likely to be on the move? Laverde could be on the way out too?

With both players, they’re looking to improve their draft hand, clearly keen to bring in more than 2 kids.

The recruitment team are doing their due diligence on uncontracted (they’re not going to use picks-no Maginness) / role players. Welcome Stone.

Depending on potential ins from the uncontracted pool, Weideman and Setterfield are gone.

Reasonable strategy scouring opposition lists for left overs or potential Massimo’s. Gotta be better than the broken playing list Essendon has to date.

Maybe. Could be code for ■■■■ draft too.

You hear the same things every year.

Personally i think if we get two genuine first round talents this year its a win in the national draft. Quite possible given we have a decent academy prospect.

Im hoping the club also finds some talent via alternate pathways.

Wasn’t kozzie not rated as high as melb took him?

Surely Melbourne need a key forward before another small.
