This kid can play, seen alot of him as a junior and not sure was given a real chance at the saints. Will surely be picked up if not by an AFL team will def be signing with the tassie vfl side.

Port would be stupid not to trade Butters, they are going into a total rebuild. Think heard someone say they havent had a first round pick for 3 years.
It’s about time people in the industry stopped referring to First Rounders and Second Rounders. It has very little meaning when a First Rounder could be anything from 1 to 22.
Why not just say - a pick under 10, in the teens, in the 20s etc.
It means a lot more.

I would only believe this article (I read it last week) if it came from Rosa or Vozzo or someone at the club who would have been involved in this. Morris was getting fed info from Petroro and Merrett so I take this as their attempt yet again to paint the club in a bad light to try and force the situation.
In any case, the situation is done and dusted and Merrett didn’t get his wish. What will be will be!!

Sure they might have to trade him, but he’s going to be expensive, our 2027 draft hand will be included should he pick us (lol) and we’ll need a strong hand in 2027 for Bewick.

Pretty much everything that can be said about the Merrett non trade has been said. There are nuances and variables that everyone weights differently, so there may never be a definitive right or wrong viewpoint.
But I’ll finish on this. Let’s presume the talk of the future 2027 first round is true. In which case, there is no better exclamation point to put on what was a putrid, offensive shambles of an effort by Hawthorn to prise out a 6 time Crichton medallist than a finale that saw them bail out due to a likely selection in the late 20’s , a full year after they’re hoping Merrett helps win them the flag. They could’ve had Merrett , and possibly even been a chance for back to back premiers, for picks 10, 22, 24 and 30. All before the pick 30 draft is even live. And it was that pick 30 that was too much!!? Lol. Gob smacking.
