Trade talk - from October 2025 (Part 10)

That was exactly their strategy

I know of a great way we could have achieved that…..

Is it that “AFL trade and draft rumours” wanker?

At best it will be an end of round pick, more likely a second round pick. He will be 32 and not getting the type of contract that will give huge compensation.

Lol, is Cornes becoming pro Essendon?

You’re not keeping Merrett now with any expectation of a trade return next year or beyond.

You’re keeping him because you think you can fix the unhappiness and make use of an elite talent onfield.

Yep, you definitely hold him next year after this. There’s no benefit to trading him after this year. Sorry Zach.

What if it helps get Butters??

Arie Schoenmaker delisted

I’d give him a lifeline…

They didn’t know what to do with him in the end and did what we said we might try with Ridley when we drafted him and tried to turn him into a tall as midfielder in the twos last season.

If we could turn Merrett into Butters & Bailey next year, would it be a win??

Can you turn me into Brad Pitt whilst you’re at it?

Don’t be boring. Answer the question.

Weird question. Of course that would be a win. Turning him into either would be a win.

If I could ■■■■ into my own hands, then rub it together and it turned into a million dollars, would that be a win?

Well that’s what we’re going for, imo.

So this is why Rosa rejected the deal - all those draft picks offered by Hawthorne likely to only amount to the equivalent of pick 3.
Pick 3 for a contracted decorated Captain with 5 years of service left in him.
What a pack of shysters at Glenferrie.

And they will lose him for nothing in pre season draft.
