Imagine trading Parish to Geelong for Pick 62 and paying part of his wage.
Then Geelong trading him to Tasmania the following year and getting a better draft pick as part of his wage is being paid (by us).

Iām not too worried about that. Geelong usually only take players that can run.
Lucas was his manager when he signed this contract.
If heās any good at his job (and he seems to be), he is focussed on outcomes for his clients, not his former club. So, I donāt foresee any favourable discounts occurring.

Yep, we have salary cap to burn at the moment and next 2-3 years. Use that cash to buy better draft picks, we would be stupid not to.

Itās still the stupidest contract renewal weāve done in the last decade.
And thatās saying something.
I had every bit of confidence that this is how Parishās career would end up.
And then you have the laughable situation of the club lying about the length of his new contract.

I actually respect Parish for that.
While its better for us if he goes, its nice that at least one of a senior players isnt just tucking his tail between his legs and begging to leave the club because things are hard.
I still think if Parish could get his body right, he could contribute under a new coach.
Shouldnāt be hard to catch with his injury issues

Personally, Iāve had enough of players saying they want out and still being at the Club.
We have a new broom coming through next year, hopefully they ensure trades for Merrett, Ridley & Parish and if anyone else wants out, them too.

Itās because heās comfortable, not because heās trying to do the right thing.
I donāt think heās really driven enough to have the motivation to leave. Heās on a good salary and been allowed to just go through the motions for years.
His GF is okay but his calves and hamstrings have threatened to divorce him.

I know this is a common complaint, but why extend playersā or coachesā contacts when itās absolutely clear that no-one is going to try to get them away from you.

All clubs do it. We just do it with average players.
Any midfield with parish wonāt be one challenging for much, he could get 40 every week and his team would not be better for it.

Heād work in a midfield where others cover his defensive deficiencies instead of sharing them with him.
