Trade talk - from October 2025 (Part 10)

He’s considering us because we have offered considerably more money than the Dogs, but just wants to see improvement from us this season. My source is someone with inside information and is rarely wrong.

If that was North would have signed some decent guns when they were throwing good money around.

Most players still don’t want to play for poorly performing club especially if they are coming from a successful club.

How many good players from successful clubs move to bottom clubs?

Worked out pretty well for Lachie Neale.

Brisbane and Freo finished around the same spot the year he moved so hardly leaving a successful club.

FWIW @savio_the_don has a decent posting history with this stuff.

Not unrelated but I think Butters and Duzz are also quite chummy.

The season hasn’t even started and you’re already baiting us into false hope. Staaaaahhp

he played golf with parish in the offseason at the national wasnt it?

I trust my source, as he’s been right about other such developments long before reported in the media. Not a guarrantee it will happen but I trust his intel is right.

Love the sound of Butters.

But it would be a hell of a lot of investment in midfielders in the last few years if we spent a bunch of draft picks on Butters

what would the trade be?

If you’re set on the dogs, Essendon are the perfect stalking horse - plenty of salary cap room to push up the salary … decent first round pick as start of a package (assuming Port match) pressuring Dogs to start planning who they trade to get more picks…

Was just about to say this.

Strange choice to draft the three players we did only to then bring in Butters.

Perhaps we see him as a Merrett replacement.
