Trade talk - from September 2025 (Part 8)

We are going to have all theese picks in a shallow draft that drops off after the first 20 or picked

Also the top end there arent really any standouts a kid thats rated top 10 would proably be just as good as one picked later in the draft

Thankfully we’ll have 4-5 picks inside the top 15 in a strong first round.

Yes and no the top end is not really rated this year

Some clubs reckon it’s pretty good

I hope we farking do nothing would make me more happy

We need some to become stars and cal reckons there arent any

The midrange of the first round is strong.

So we are positioned perfectly with multiple picks

Ok.

Some clubs (one in particular) don’t agree with Cal. And knowing this club, I will happily take their word for it ahead of anyone else.

The best players just aren’t in front of our nose as much.

If Cal says so:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I meant that what you were saying was a good thing, it looked as though you were framing it as a bad position to be in.

Hope they are right last thing we want is draft all these players and they just become soild average players

Cal thought Tsatas was a star.

Yeah. So perhaps instead of repeating the same thing over and over again like it’s fact, bear in mind there are some people who do this for a living, and very well, who disagree.

Same as Davey

Cal wouldn’t have a clue, he just parrots what clubs tell him

What are you saying the club said to you? That they rate players that aren’t in talks for the early picks?

Whilst I don’t think his the gods gift to talent ID in the AFL, if he doesn’t have a clue no one else in the media is even watching the right sport.

No.

That the rise of SA over what VIC has produced this year suggests the talent is limited in VIC, but what they believe is the talent is still good in VIC but SA has produced a bumper that produced great cohesion, which dilutes the perception of VIC talent and as a result the draft in general.

The draft is still good, but it’s just geographically slightly different and given footy is still VIC centric it impacts how the whole draft is perceived.

This from a recruiter from Geelong, and he said it’s a reasonably broad view.
