Clarke had 27 disposals, 9 marks, and the 4th highest distance covered in round 24, then 6 days later against the suns in the last game of the year had another 21 and covered more ground than any other player on the ground. That’s pretty good for someone who’s cooked.

I’m not suggesting he is a good pickup but it’s critical we get in a couple of decent older leaders to help this group. The current senior players have shown they are not up to it. And getting a bunch of kids in with no real leadership is a recipe for disaster.

Should we be looking at Ben Ainsworth in a double swoop deal from GC with Fiorini. If we can ship Gresham off I think that is a win. We need some mature aged honest players you know what you’ll get from most weeks. Both have been in ■■■■ environments and been part of the GC improvement. Neither will come expensive. Still think Flanders is gettable but Pick 7 from Saints seems a high price to pay.
Sounds like a good leader of young blokes, not just a ‘solid citizen’ good family type, if we get a few strong leaders in the coaching group as well I might crack a close lipped smile.

Fiorini is a big upgrade on Gresham and I think Fiorini is just an ‘alright’ footballer.
If it’s a case of fiorini IN and Gresham and Setterfield OUT I think that is a big net positive for the list.
