The whole Merrett going nuclear will be such a bad tactic by his manager if they do it. The tide turned last week on Tom Morris and Merrett from a public perspective. Anything said now will only cause eye rolls, I think Essendon have finally done something well. They have been aligned and consistent. Lets hope we trade him for a fair deal now.

Gold Coast will be left with 15 + 18 (+ 24 +29) ā¦those picks might fall around where Sweid gets bid on.

As 15 on draft night is likely around pick 20 if weāre lucky we get a pick in before Sweid bid,
@Houli_Dooley thinks that Fremantl are interested in Sweid. They come in at pick 20ā¦so maybe 15+18 is ok/
we currently donāt have enough points to get both, unless we get hawks second in Merrett deal.

Agreed. If this is the case, it is in our best interest for the Petracca deal to get done early, so we have the precedent

Trade into pick 8 from GC
Have pick 10 from Hawthorn
5,6,7,8 and 10
Trade two of those up for Duursma.
Now that would have been a trade week.

If this comes off and we get a Merrett trade and we end up having 5,6, 9, 15, 20. What a great flexible draft hand. That would be brilliant.
The fact that US also has the finger on that button keeps China in check.

Yeah I think ideally we try to get either Carltonās pick with a promise not to bid on Dean or Gold Coastās pick 15 if possible.
I know its been said, but will say again, take no note of Trade Whisperers twitter. For years its said to be McClure burner. Regardless if it is him or not, whoever is behind it sprouts absolute garbage on there and lies for the good part of the last what 10 years plus if i recall.

If Petracca is going for picks 7 & 8, surely Hawthorn canāt offer us pick 9, a 2026 1st (might as well be a 2nd) and a fringe player. Iād be ā ā ā ā ā ā off if we accepted something like that

I am ruthless this year even if it means missing out on an NGA. Go hard to get as many top 12 type picks as possible. Keep trading up every opportunity. Fiorini can be done with a future

Gold Coast donāt want a future pick. Iām guessing weāll have to trade a future pick with somebody else for a pick this year to give Gold Coast.
Exactly, thatās why we wants Hawks 2025 Picks, then use them to trade up. Grab their F2 for a Draft night trade to go up the order.
I mean, yeh. But I believe Morris to a degree, he obviously has Merretts manager in his ear. But, the āmust get done todayā stuff is just Morris mayo to make it more engagement bait imo. I imagine the broad strokes are accurate
I agree, thatās why I think a 3rd club will need to help get a deal done for Merrett. We need 2 x top 10 picks plus either a future 1st or a similar value player
