With pick 5 or whatever we have, we simply just need to get the best inside mid we can.
Yep, I’m back on the Gaff train too. He’s exactly what we need. If Stringer continues to improve, as does Langford, a combo of Smith, Zaka, Merret, Parish, Hep and Gaff would definitely be hard to beat. With a developing Clarke, Mutch and another couple of high draft picks knocking on the door.
Draper stepping up next season would also help out Belly.
Gaff2019, get on it!
Wallis and Gaff, make it so.
Geez I feel like I have been saying this for 10 years.
Wallis ia a limited player - Average disposal, questionable decision-making and struggles to cover the ground - He’s about the last player needed.
Bloke can win the ball and apply tackles something our midfield lacks we have the likes of McGrath,Parish,Merret,Smith etc on the outside for the spread.
he sounds PERFECT
Not correct, we can tackle, we are back to winning contested ball. What we lack is smart decision making and great disposal. Wallis does not address that.
No for Wallis from me also.
Would rather give Clarke game time than Wallis.
Courageous, wins the hard ball, kicks goals.
Would do well with a fresh start in a side that needs him.
What would we get for Hurley? 1st or 2nd rounder? If it’s a 1st, i’d Say put him on the trade table at the end of the season.
He’s no good anymore, bad wrists, poor technique, we should trade him.
First rounder easy based on all that.
Never change Blitz.
Not every player we target has to be a superstar that’s what people don’t get If we get Wallis he will play a roll in the team.
Why isn’t he playing that role currently?
I disagree. Liam Jones would probably be the last player needed imo.
I would definitely have a look at recruiting Wallis as a free agent.
Averaging this year: 21 disposals at 70% eff and 5 tackles
I think Wallis is a very solid player and can win his own ball.
I don’t think winning clearances is the biggest concern though.
We need quick players that can spread from the contest like Richmond did Saturday night, and guys that can break free from congestion and hit a target.
Adding another slowish player with no standout attributes will not help us.
Especially when we have similarly sized players in Langford, Clarke and Mutch who need game time in before him.
After the RICH game, I’m feeling the same way as Killer Mike.
That is why the suggestion of Cam Guthrie has piqued my interest. He has always struck me as surprisingly quick for his size.
I just checked, Guthrie is something like one month younger, 1cm taller, 1kg heavier than Wallis.
I have no concerns on Wallis’s ability and think he would be a desired player for any club. My concern is more that he is mates with Stringer, and to be frank, I don’t want any former dogs mates near him at our football club. What he does outside the club is his business. But at the Essendon, I want him surrounded by Hepp, Belly and Hooker, not any of Wallis, Dalhaus or Libba thanks.
Gaff and Guthrie are the two we should focus on.
