Seems the jumping castle got caught up in wind. Unbelievably sad for this NW community on the last day of school.
Edit started another thread mods please merge, also was speaking to a colleague close by and wind conditions were not strong
Those things are dangerous in windy conditions. You’d think someone or some people are going to be in a world of trouble for failing to safely install this jumping castle.
They’re reporting that a second child has died. Truly heart breaking.
Could have sworn this also happened a couple of years ago somewhere. You hope the operators get absolutey reamed for this if they are liable in any way. Horrific stuff.
What a horror story.
Oh no. That is so terrible
I think the only thing that really scares me, the only thing that makes me feel sick in the gut, is the thought of being unable to protect my children when they need it the most.
My thoughts to the parents, there could be nothing worse. And they will never recover.

Too true.
I have never understood why those things have not been banned, they are ridiculously dangerous.
That’s horrendous. Clearly someone didn’t check something…
I can’t remember if that falls under councils responsibility as a temp structure.
Bloody horrible stuff.
You feel sick.
I have no words. Horrific.
Jesus christ
Horrific way to end a horrific year.
Let’s hope the injured kids are ok.
apparently it went ten metres in the air before crashing down, and can only imagine there were kinder and prep kids on there, as my grade 2 thinks he’s too big for a jumping castle now.
I always check how well they are tied down at fair’s etc if our kids go on them and they are usually pinned down like tents.
couldn’t think anything worse than heading to the school and not knowing if your kid is ok or injured or worse…
Terrible end to the school year.
One article said the kids fell from that height. Horrific.
yep everyone would be pretty seriously injured unless they were very lucky.
Hope we don’t get any more news for a while as its likely going to be bad if there is.
Man this is horrible.
I’m actually going down to Dev just after Xmas to do placement at a paediatric clinic.
Suspect I’ll (unfortunately) run into kids and families affected by this.
Mercury quoting a kid from the school as saying “it was our turn next. Grade 5 and grade 6 went first”
