The continuous repetition stuff is all about muscle memory.
His comment on Worsfold and Rutten working together like husband and wife (not sure who’s wearing the pants) is encouraging. If they do work well as a unit then the transition plan could be a win for 2020.
One thing I noticed in some of the drills that I haven’t seen mentioned yet - in the set plays ending with someone kicking at goal. Those that missed were asked to finish it off and had to have at least a second attempt at kicking the goal.
Parish missed one snap, and missed his second attempt. A few minutes later, when he missed another, the whole group stirred him for it.
I like that they’re being expected to kick the goal. It’s not something I have seen much of in past training sessions. It seems to me that in the past, they were expected to practice a training drill several times, but the end result was less important.
I’m very very very happy to read this. Absolutely crucial to establish good habits and to emphasise that the whole point of a play is to score - and to score a goal to be even more exact. We have to raise the bar for what is expected regarding disposal and 1%s. If you don’t do it right you get told and you do it until you do it right. And/or the whole team is “punished” for you missing, after-all it is a team game and your actions affect the team not just the individual. The flip side is that the whole team benefits from a successfully executed play and that should be celebrated as a team
After the last lot of training reports, these ones are starting to feel at least a little “lid off”. Practicing with purpose to improve on areas that we have struggle with. Excellent.
INTENTIONAL TRAINING.
Humble NSW Fan likes this.
It had to happen. All that unintentional training was getting us only so far.
Training report mentioned tackling skills training. But that is was light contact. This doesn’t really help and probably instills bad habbits. I know that tacking hard could cause injuries but by training to tackle hard they naturally get better at breaking and standing up in tackles in addition to getting better at sticking tackles
It’s only pre-Christmas training. All in good time!
What was the purpose of your zooming when you picked up on that?
He was just trying to see if he could recognise Nigel in the hangar doorway.
Now that’s how you wear a man bra
This isn’t exactly a great photo but I wanted to add it cause there can be a misconception at times that when a player goes to oval number two they aren’t training as hard as the main group.
These two though check out those leg muscles!
Tippa dare I say it looks chunky.
