Training - Fri 9th Dec 22

no it doesn’t.

Were not going to replace Reid with a mature ager. It just means Ridley/LAV will have to play more KPP.

Ridley/LAV/Zerk will ge tthe job done most weeks, just miss development of Reid.

And we already added a young key back Hayes.
we just go for the most talent available as SSP if get another pick.

Could even look at VOSS as a stop gap option as a KPD.

Saw him in the cafe talking to acouple of trainers(?).
He had a training top on.
Seemed in good spirits.
Fingers crossed nothing serious.

Yep dodoro loves a tall, skinny, brittle footballer that’s body isn’t cut out for the riggers of AFL footy. Just waiting to see if we have another one in Hayes.

Apparently Brand only missed 2 games in 2 years with injury and 1 with Covid. Pretty durable.

What has been his issue @CJohns ?

fkn cut about reid. hopefully an update soon. been saying for years, gotta be extra patient with 2020 kids, the lockdowns set them back a bit. should mean they have careers extended by a couple of years though

Bit of a mystery. Info i got was around being forced home bound for a while but no serious injury

Didnt someone say it was covid?

I’ll start with the training reports, I’m sure more thorough reports will be posted later.

It’s only December and it’s only training but…

Rehab oval.
Lav
Jones
Stringer
A.Davey
Bryan.

Perkins appeared later running laps.
I think Cox was inside training.
Caldwell doing ball work, I think he partcipated in some drills.

Things that excite:
Munkara. Wow.
In one play he made time stand still as he evaded not 1, not 2 but 3 players ( maybe more). This included shrugging off a tackle.
Needs fitness and consistency- then…wow!

A.Davey
Weaving in and out of trafic at times was wonderful to watch. Good hands.

J.Davey. (joined in goal kicking practice).
The kid can kick a goal. Accurate.

Tsatas.
Smooth. Good acceleration. Gets into position for 2nd efforts/return handballs.

Walla.
At Marvel oval end read the ball off the pack, at speed, snap. Goal.
At Airport end lead player under the ball. Mark. Goal.
He’s still got it. Running, chasing, hassling coming along nicely.

Martin.
During goal kicking practice in the ‘Cafe’ pocket there was a tricky wind blowing right to left. Players were struggling to adjust.
Nic Martin? Nope. Straight through.

Other interesting observations:
Weideman.
Some discussion about leading patterns.
‘Weed’ lead well and created space. Worked hard.

Zerk.
Played on Wright during match sim.
Had hands on him at all times. Couple of very good late spoils.
Was vocal, organising the back line, calling players back and directing them where to stand.

Setterfield.
Surprised how big he is.
Didn’t notice him during match sim.

Are you sure?

Is Sean Murphy or whatever his name is still in charge of High Performance Training?

I personally refer to him as The Butcher of Tullamarine

Hahaha…yes I did.
Fixed. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m ready for this Munkara timeline.

Now we see why this bloke was drafted ( a bit surprising)
Zerk shares just doubled in value

I thought we were already being conservative with Reid, the only positive is that whatever he is going through has happened now and not on the eve of Rd1.

You’re not a fully fledged Essendon player until you’ve had a stress fracture.

In fact I heard that they were going to change father-son eligibility for us from 100 games to a stress fracture.

Love this, I’m certainly no footy expert but you can clearly see in his highlights packages there is something very special. Thanks for the report.

What the draftees will bring!!

Was it 3 drafts ago, we drafted lots of talls, you know, to set up our key positions / spine for the next 10 years.
They are dropping like flies. At this rate of attrition they will not even get to a stage where they can be described as “list cloggers”
